BSG - I think you know me better than to judge anything said on wiki. Long before this deal happened, I was keeping an eye on things on the Southampton sites, even one on here and they have not been having good things to say about him. Obviously we can only judge him when we see him play but when the fans do not speak highly of him, then it makes you a little nervous.
even the teams that forecast has been on loan within non league, don't have rave reviews of him. i think most of it from us is that we've lost a decent prospect and had high hopes of keeping gazza on loan for one more season.
£1.5m we're all hearing. And Forecast is.. well. Fans of Grimsby said he's the worst keeper they've ever had, they sent him back from loan when they absolutely needed a keeper. I even know someone who saw him play for Bromley and said everyone thought he was terrible there in Conference South. The best part of this deal for us is being shot of him - one of the posters on our board joked it may have been £1.5m, but £1.4m of that was to convince you to take Forecast. Basically, if he's your number 1 keeper, good luck...
I haven't. He kept a clean sheet in a pre-season friendly the other day so who knows, he might be improving.
Based on the Liebherr cup, if he learns how to catch a long ball that's straight at him, he'll be improving.
Oxon, brb Of course everyone has their own views on a player, just look at the debates we have on here over the effectiveness of players, many split opinion. Oxon understand your concersn being based on other fans' comments but there is a tendency for the "haters" to shout louder than the "lovers" so I feel you always get a distorted veiw. Also he must been showing some promise for Southampton to keep him, if he was complete deadwood they would have been rid by now I am sure. Just to reiterate my point if Forecast couldn't play a part this season I doubt that he would be joining us on loan. In MadDog we trust!
Stop trying to look at it in such a positive light. We've had him four years now and I've literally never heard a positive word about him, and the one time I've seen him play in person he's been appalling. It's not a good deal on any level that you've got him, nobody in the world thinks he's any good, and he's a dickhead off the pitch on top of that. If he plays even slightly well for you then I'll be truly incredulous.
This is the Tommy Forecast who Grimsby fans described as "The worst keeper they'd ever seen." Anyway, thanks for Gazza and good luck for the season ahead.
Yeah let's give this guy a chance. He's 25, 6 foot 7, that's good enough for me Joking of course but seriously no one has seen him play, he could be a revelation! He's not played at a high level as of yet but nor had Flitney before last season and he stepped up reasonably ok! Judge him for us not on what is said by bitter Grimsby fans etc.
Hey, Bialkowski was a highly rated U21 international and he doesn't even know he's allowed to use his hands.
Hopefully the early reports of Stuart Nelson are a little more than just that, reports. However I doubt we would have brought in Forecast just to act as a third choice.....so it looks like just he and Flitney vying for the number one position. Let's bring Romain Larrieu out of retirement!
All that is happening now, will certainly be looked back on and judged come the end of the 2012 13 season. I have seen no movements within the transfer market as of yet, that convinces me that we are anything like auto promotion material, the only difference is Martin Allen MIGHT have that edge on Hessy in getting us to the play-offs. Early days I know but it was early days when I remarked in the same way in regards to Barcham's departure along much later with Rooney and reality hits home and we are still playing league two football. Not happy about Gazza going but the bank balance is looking rosier and nothing more than that at this time. So the Chairman has probably got a big smile on his face, even if I have not.
When Gazza & Payne are sold I would be very surprised if the amounts will be disclosed ( told you - although hardly a surprise) edit - whoops didn't give my 'previous' quote the corrct pasting - can't be bothered to rectify - just too busy waiting for all the money to be spent on Messi & Iniesta
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxqlBgfeV-c&feature=player_detailpage#t=770s Forecast comes on at half time, keeps a clean sheet and although I haven't watched the second half yet, I note that he caught the ball early doors.
I agree BRB but Allen has said to Kent Online that signings are close to completion so patience is key. Making transfers is often a long process as we all know and Allen has been in the job little over 2 weeks, he's not a miracle worker. In my opinion it was crucial we sold Gazzaniga because as a league 2 club, we cannot afford to let such a talent to leave on a free which is what would have happened had we kept him this year. I think he would have been reluctant to sign a new deal with all the hype surrounding him. Hopefully part of the money can be used to strengthen the team but it's just as important that the rest goes back in the budget to strengthen our bank balance. It aggravates me to hear some fans suggest that all the money made should be re-invested in signings, this never happens in football! You wouldn't find Man Utd re-investing the 92 million made on Ronaldo on signings!
Spurs sold us a turnip and our mental ex-chairman gave him a ridiculous 5 year contract. The only reason he's still here. Not many Saints fans have seen much of him either, although the reports are pretty damning. On the one occasion he played in a friendly at St Mary's, he hardly covered himself in glory, letting a tame shot underneath him and generally bumbling around. Sarcastic cheers when he actually caught something. Good luck if you actually have to use him!
I am willing to give Tommy a chance, but worrying thing is that he was on loan at Bromley last season and he didn't even do well there.
