Good News. I've been given speshull permission to use the gate as a ride during Hull Fair Week. It's for those who are not overly keen on the whizzy, spinning rides that make you feel like barfing. Basically, people will be allowed to sit on one end of it and it will be open and shut, nice and gentle, in the way it's supposed to whilst keeping Isis at bay. Quid a go. Also, to get into the spirit, I'm going to string a few of my spare flashing Xmas lights along the gate. Terrorists are not allowed on it - sorry. No falling off permitted. See you there.
So the Council and the SMC are arguing about 10 or 20 cms. Doesn't sound like the gate is an essential part of the fight against terrorism? I'd be surprised if the police recommended its erection. The war between the Council and the Allams continues.
Think the SMC have had their pants pulled down by NECTU. " Does my shed need double glazing?" "Oh yes, triple glazing- the most expensive type of all is what we recommend" Surely someone is getting a backhander on this?
It's incredible that people at this point are still just happily accepting claims of this kind made by an Allam-run business. We know they're liars. We know they delight in pointless battles against the council and community and love to make everything a legal battle, contesting even the most black and white of rules. As you've mentioned, the Harvard thing is one example of them completely fabricating something in retrospect as justification for their actions, but which upon inspection makes absolutely no sense and doesn't support their conclusion in the slightest. The only reason anyone would believe a similar claim from them now, surely, is that they want to believe it.
I'm surprised the SMC didn't claim that NECTU advised them to remove the penalty spots, so they couldn't be used as targets.
Either that picture was taken by a child/dwarf, or the fence is higher than 1.8m. Which isn't a surprise considering the identity of the party claiming it isn't.
I'm pretty sure the SMC are measuring the gate, rather than the height the top of it is from the floor, which is why it actually exceeds 2m and needs planning.
So the anti terror advisors bringing up the gate issue is fair enough. Not arguing with that. I don't agree with it but there you go. However, anyone who doesn't think Ehab was rubbing his hands at the thought of it also pissing off Hull City fans is very very deluded.
Or people who use it as a shortcut I thought it was only going to be closed during 'unsociable' hours though ?
