I've watched JWP a few times recently and unfortunately he just doesn't seem up to it. He doesn't have the ability of Cork to recycle the ball in tight areas, which has shown by embarassing delays in the last two games where nobody ahs wanted the ball from the throw in.

Who would you have take free kicks and corners? As far as I know he's the best we have for that. Tadic may be good, but he's left footed and it's always good to have both.

Guan 2.0 update on TSW. Seems to think the Townsend interest is done, nothing happening there.

Things we'll just see 1 more in, and maybe an international loan out. He didn't mention names, but suggested that it's not redmond as he's not the type of player the recruitment department feel we need.

That fits sadly

JWP deserves a place in the team for his corners and free kicks alone. As it happens I think he also brings a lot more to the team and Koeman is very impressed with him. I think he's probably one of the first names on the team sheet.

I'm assuming everyone raving about JWP watched the last two games? I agree re his set pieces, but he's too lightweight and doesn't seem to have a great deal of energy. I would love him to progress but I haven't every seen him repeat his performance at home to Man U in early 2012/2013. If I was Koeman I'd have JWP hitting the weights to try and bulk him up a bit. He just bounces off opponents. Same goes for Betrand, and I noticed that Targett seemed a lot more robust last night.

I would assume Boric would be the one off on international loan?

As long as we replace him, I would have absolutely no issue with moving him on as I feel he has been a major disappointment.
His injury record is poor and he just hasn't delivered regularly when he does appear on the pitch.

Adkins, Pochettino & Koemen. Three totally different style of managers, probably the only thing they have in common?...

They don't rate Gaston Ramirez.

I have to agree, he's had chances, not taken them & showed questionable motivation to fight for a place. He is no loss to Saints, apart from on the balance sheet.

As with all these things only time will tell. I personally feel he has plenty to offer if given a run of games. We certainly are crying out for creativity from somewhere.

But he doesn't create. He gives away possession all the time and slows the game down to a crawl.

And who would you drop to "give him a run of games" ??

I don't really get why people are upset about him leaving. He's been pretty useless since we bought him and has had various chances.

You obviously have a very different view of him. I would happily drop either JWP or Davis because they play the same role as each other

Adkins tried to force Gaston into a system. Didn't work. Poch tried to force Gaston into a system. Didn't work. Unless you build the entire team around him, he's forever going to be a square peg in a round hole... that you can't trust to do a job.

Three experienced football managers appear to share this view. Nige & Poch wouldn't drop Lallana for him. I can't see Koeman dropping JWP or Davis... although Tadic is the most obvious similar player... who Koeman won't drop.

But who knows best? Three experienced managers who have seen him in training & playing, or blokes off the internet who have seen Gaston play a couple of games and blanked out the poor performances to concentrate on the fleeting moments of potential?

I'm not sure what we would gain by loaning him out. If Ron doesn't want him, then fine. But sell him. Don't let his contract run down another year. Don't pass up the chance to get in some sales proceeds.

I would much rather keep him as an option in the squad, particularly given that it is still pretty thin in the offensive areas, than loan him out.
