Aye think we all doubted him but this is why the manager with over thirty years in the game, who sees them day in and day out picks the team.
They definitely targeted him a bit,kept roughing him up.

I thought he was gash against Swansea, played very well today though. Can't say I'm convinced of one performance but much more promising has to be said.
Plus, our corners are usually diabolical.

Actually I didn't doubt him. I said after the Spuz game that I thought he was the best player on the park upto when he got himself sent off.
The thing I like about him is his ball retention; he hardly ever misses a pass.
I have been banging on to friends and family about what great player he is only to be laughed at based on his performances so far. Today he was great and hopefully he will vastly improve.
There is no coincidence this guy is often picked for Uruguay and plays regularly with great players like Suarez. If only Hernandez could find some form.

Good to hear that he had a good game today. He's the next best player of the ball in the absence of Huddlestone.
He'd shown flashes so far. Before he let himself down against Spurs, he was looking very decent.
Obviously, he's got many of South American traits, so can be a weak and lightweight looking, but no doubt he carries some ability.
Hopefully we will see a lot more.

I have always said that I liked what I have seen so far, but players need a run of games to get up to speed. Today we are starting to see what he has to offer, and hopefully he can push on against Lesta.
Our midfield will always look better with players who want the ball, and constantly look for it. That's what Gaston and Quinn are always doing.
Sure, Thudd and Livermore are usually open for a pass, but they don't really ever proactively look to receive it and/or look to do much with it. Gaston and Quinn are always moving and looking to create moves and opportunities.
No wonder we could actually keep the ball today.
Sunderland are a better team than Burnley, but we genuinely could barely keep the ball for more than 2 passes against Burnley. Get Ramirez and Quinn in that midfield, regardless of who is available.

Ramirez was not playing in midfield today, but as one of two strikers who both kept dropping back to pick up the ball and caused all sorts of problems for the opposition. He is too lightweight to protect the defence but is good for the hole or today's role.
Ramirez obviously has tons of talent, but it's fitting him in.
He's not a wide player or a centre midfielder. His ideal role is in the hole. But then you either have to sacrifice a striker and play 4-4-1-1 or your wingers and play 4-3-1-2 or 3-4-1-2.

He has been **** for most of his time here , he even ran away from Shelvey when it looked like he might be about to close him down , it was insane to see !!

I don't know if it's that much of a problem. All season we have had a gap of infinite distance between the 'midfield' and any strikers. Given that, I think a link that works should be an absolute priority.
Oh wait, how will we fit the magical trio of Huddlestone, Livermore and Diame in once fit? The magical trio that couldn't put two passes together against Burnley? Gotta get them in, forget the real game winners of Gaston and Quinn.
