Cheers Optimist, I assumed some one as ******ed as Lamberto wouldn't speak for all saints. Enjoy your day and your signing, think he will be quite a signing for you guys and a must-buy for fantasy footy teams!
A bit like your previous owners and the present ones , they got 3rd choice Rodgers to tighten the purse strings as the King bought quality talent ........
http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html I did control+F but couldn't find Southampton, found Queen of the South FC though
From a Southampton fan? In comparison between our two clubs, we may not be in the CL... but we are in the EL. Come back once you get into Europe.
Ah the old comfort blanket , how much have you spent on premiership mediocrity for the last 21 years ?
There is no comparison in the clubs , You have cling on Workd wide fans and in the UK We dont Your ground is historic but like a day out at Knowsley safari park in the rain is ****e Your rivals United have become the biggest club in England by a Country mile whilst you have fallen away . History is used by those who have nothing to look forward to , League ? No Cup ? Maybe Same as us bar the Thursday night football , at least it's a famous European night at Anfield as the league atmosphere is awful .
Will Suarez hang around, though, if you don't qualify for the CL this year or next? Or Coates (assuming he carries on scoring goals like his against QPR last season). That's as big an unknown at the moment as whether or not we (Southampton) get relegated. Serious question: what do you think is the more likely occurence - us staying up this season, or you getting a CL spot? I would say it's got to be us staying up, particularly after this statement of intent by our Chairman. However, I am aware that this deal is not done - so as far as I'm concerned, Ramirez is still a Bologna player at the moment. You got to look at it this way too - with a player like Ramirez, we are more likely to take points off Spurs (and the rest of the potential top four), which has got to benefit your push for a top four finish. Spurs imo are going to falter under AVB, and this is your chance to grab that slot back. Not got stats to hand, but all the top four - and yourselves - have suffered losses to newly-promoted teams (in the case of Manchester City, one of their only losses; in your case, perhaps a few more). You should be celebrating this - as you said, your interest cooled, plus you have the financial clout to bring in someone better.
Like I said earlier, good signing for you guys and shows ambition for your club. You staying up is definitely the more likely occurrence than us getting top 4. You can pencil City and United in there already. Chelsea have bought quality, Arsenal are still strong despite RVP exit. We can challenge for it if things go well with competition also coming from Spurs and Newcastle. Certainly different from a short time ago when the likes of United, Chelsea, Arsenal and ourselves were pretty much way ahead of the rest of the league.
Ok I forgot that you had been sold again......and your right.....30 million is a drop in the ocean compared to Man U.
I was hoping we would sign but if he does go to Southamptom and they don't stay up then we might get him on the cheap next summer.
Liverpool fans need to realise they are no longer the great team they were. Me or no other Southampton fan with half a brain will argue that we are a bigger club than you. But i feel what we can argue is that our future is a lot brighter then yours. We have very wealthy owners who have proved they are willing to pump money not only into the team, but also the infrastructure and facilities. The facts are that despite Liverpool pumping huge money into the team, they seem to lack a clear transfer strategy. This argument is not based solely on the Andy Carroll deal but also Jordan Henderson, Borini, Joe Allen and other mid table average premiership players being brought for astronomical amounts. It must also be said that if Suarez is as world class as Liverpool fans like to think, then how ling will he remain a Liverpool player? If he's trully world class then surely he must have aspirations of winning major titles, or atleast competing in thr CL. Also, with regards to the Gaston Ramirez transfer has anyone taking into consideration the influence of living in the city that he decides to transfer too. For example if you was offered 50k a week to live in Liverpool, or 40k a week to live in Southampton which would you prefer? I know i'd be moving South. Not a dig at Liverpool as i prefer them to United, but just think alot of Liverpool fans need a reality check.
All young, going to be fantastic players who can hold the ball and aren't afraid to tackle. Also, if you really think about it, our manager has signed 3 players, all young and able to pass and move. Not sure what kind of 'clear transfer strategy' that doesn't present...
Infrastructure?, We have a state of the art training ground and a state of the art academy. You're mixing up the 'transfer strategies' of two different managers lad,Suarez has just signed a long term contract. Southampton has many ****hole areas lad so dont kid yourself that a few yachts and a cruise terminal makes Southampton desirable.
Are they all this absolutely ****ing stupid in Hampshire? I mean I've read some bollox here tonight, that makes the man U fans look bright. I could argue all the ****e they have made up, but I simply can't be arsed.
This is the biggest amount of bullshit I've ever read. Say we "Lack a clear transfer strategy" yet go onto list 4 players who are all signed at around the same age (20-22). Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Gaston Ramirez didn't reject Liverpool or choose Southampton over Liverpool, it was just the fact Southampton were the only club that offered for him since he'd rejected Tottenham due to not being offered an acceptable amount of money. Maybe he really wanted to live in Southampton and didn't want to live in London , or more likely he went to Southampton because they were the only ones who could quench his thirst for a huge pay packet.
