I dont think you have put it very well Bob but i understand what you are getting at. But if you can actually contemplate going to your garage getting a length of rope, going up in the loft tying to a beam then putting a noose around your neck, then standing on a chair before kicking it away. Its not cowardly at all. No rational person would do that, so in his state of mind he isnt thinking of his wife or kids, his problems have overwhelmed him completely to the point where he can not see any other solution. Now that is a tragedy. I dont know how old you are Bob but depression in men is more prevalent the older you get.
I worked with a bloke in his late 50's, not a problem in his life, mortgage paid, kids grown up and families of their own, a few years to a good lump sum and pension, healthy. Walked out of the canteen one dinner time and hung himself in a portacabin in the car park, Friday the 13th think it was 85 or 86. We never found out why.
Well said Chazz, this is what I wanted to try and put across to Tigers1970 earlier is that to get to that stage someone must be really low and rational thought goes out the window. Suicide after you've comitted a serious crime and done something terrible would be cowardice as you're not facing upto the consequences of your actions, but seen as Speed doesn't fall into this category then it is just a very sad story and no one should pass judgement on him as a person for doing what he did. I think Robbie Savage summed it up well on Radio 5 earlier, it's just one of those things where you wish you could have reached out and helped him, nobody has shown any anger towards him at all so there's no need for Tigers1970 and to a certain extent Bob's comments.
It's a terrible thing to do is killing yourself because of the heartbreak it leaves behind . I don't understand why people get depressed with life.. Anyway sending good thoughts to all those left behind..such a waste of a life ..then it allways is when someone takes there own life ( O/T hope your keeping well Charles )
