Just seen it on the beeb website, shocked by this. He seemed a nice guy, massive condolences to his family at this time. Very young as well

Shocking news. Tragic loss for football. Was doing an excellent job for Wales.

That's just dreadful, absolutely awful news. He was only Football Focus yesterday and looked fine, as has been said an absolultely tragic loss for the game and life in general as he was a top fella.

What an absolute tragedy. So, so sad.
I admired him hugely as a player, and he seemed to be becoming a very, very good manager. Now he's gone. I'm just stunned by it.

I can honestly say I haven't been this shocked about anything in a very, very long time. I feel a little chilled just writing this... he was so young, and when I read the title of this post I thought, surely it can't be the same Gary Speed in charge of Wales?!? He was doing a brilliant job in charge of Wales and I had nothing but respect for the bloke. RIP GARY SPEED!
 
Was such a shocking think to hear on the radio this lunchtime especially when the circumstances were reported. He was on Football Focus yesterday morning and there was no hint of anything being wrong. Just goes to show that the public face of people can hide anything. Thoughts with his family, is a truely horrible time for them.
 
I was shocked to hear of Gary's death after watching him yesterday on football focus,my first thought was ,car crash?, then the news came out that he had taken his own life.
Whilst sad at his death, i cannot understand some of the postings, like "taken from us", no he was'nt, it was self inflicted.

Feel sorry for his wife and two kids and think of them, he obviously did'nt.
 
No doubt the gutter press will have a field day trying to drag up something from his personal life which may have caused this tragedy. Wouldn't it be lovely if any such scum bag of a paper was boycotted by all the football fraternity - including supporters - for printing the story. His poor wife and children have enough to cope with without press intrusion.
 
Monarch, because this thread deserves better than what I’d like to say in response, I’m going to err on the side of understatement.
