all well and good getting into those positions but worth f*** all if he doesn't get the ball, and he hasn't lately
I think DG could do with a spell on the bench to re focus and re charge, i dont doubt his ability but it does seem that the players are looking more to feed siggy than graham, and you cant relly blame them as the guy is on fire in front of goal! lets see what some fresh legs can bring, i dont think buck has freshened up enough lately and i feel fatigue may be playing a part toward the end of the season
Talking of blowing hot and cold!!!! c'mon guys - 2 games ago we were beating Fulham and Man City and everyone was fulll. Of optimism. Suddenly we lose to Everton and Spurs and we are already relegated if not this season then next. Whoever comes up from the Championship next season are still behind us imo. we have surpassed our hopes already this season to the point where we actually consider winning at White Hart Lane - don't forget that.
I'm 123 Dai, so I doubt it lol. Seriousley though, I think to much blame is being put on Monk here. He's been a fantastic servant to this club, playing a pivotal role in us getting us to where we are today. We took in a great player to ensure we would remain in this league, and when called upon Monk has been great (Fulham game). To go from being a first team regular to a bit part player must be difficult, and when your not being played every week, I'm sure making that step-up is two, three times as hard. Also, if you look at the 2nd goal (I think), Adabeyor is clambering all over him, so for me, it's a foul. So, let's not be too hard on him guys, he's done us proud in the past, let's not let one game change our opinions of him.
JA, one game hasn't changed my opinion of Monk. He's been OK at times, very good at others (usually when we've dominated games like at Fulham) and absolutely dreadful too. CB is a pivotal position if you're going to keep clean sheets and we need a top one to replace Caulker. Nobody is denying Monk has been a great servant but at the same time nobody can say he's up to this level because he clearly isn't.
Its easy to talk about people blowing hot and cold but i Think if you follow the regular posters on here There has been plenty of continuity in the things we Are talking about, it does irk me when people who dont post regular take that view point, but each to Their own i guess. It also gets on my wick when people Think you Are being negative about the team when you try to create debate, if its not for you then just dont comment, some like to talk football and that includes times when players dont play great or Get out played by the opposisjon, i like to Think any subject about my team can be discussed here free of ridicule, i dont love the team any less! its the same Stuff that we talk about in the pub after every game, though you dont tend to Get people butting into your conversation and saying your wrong to highlight a players short coming,Or wrong to Think a player has played well ! If people want to create happy positive swans Are amazing threads please feel free, There is plenty of room on the message board for it
Kj- Are you sure your allowed to say monk isnt up to this level? There may be some people getting upset!
Always dissapointing to lose when we are capable of competeing with these big teams and winning but happy enough with our place in the pecking order for now, as usual only a few more new players away from improving the team for next season we still need quality strength in depth. Rogers + bigger budget should sort it !
Hope thats not aimed at me NJ? I'm all for debate and that and don't mind critisism, just said I don't think we should be so hard on him, not his fault he was picked at the end of the day.
Of course not. We're all chuffed how far we've come but as NJ says we're entitled to make observations about our shortcomings too, provided they're justified. Personally I think criticism of Graham is completely unjustified whereas in relation to Monk it's fair comment. One thought: apparently Dobbie 'isn't up to this level' despite having next to no game time, and Monk is? Come on. Maybe it's because mistakes at the back are highlighted more than elsewhere, I'm not sure. But Monk looks nervous, makes poor passing choices and can't jump. All major drawbacks in the Prem. Another thought: does anyone else think that if Vorm commanded his area more he would have got to both crosses that led to the goals? Tailor-made for a punch out on both occasions imo. Just a thought.
The point about Vorm is a valid one, that is his only major failing as far as i can see, a pretty big one with a small defence but thats why he cost us £1,5m quid im guessing! Overall our defence has been great but we all as fans know what we lack, the difference with Monk and tate for that matter is that this level is a hard push on their strengths let alone their weaknesses !! Vorm overcomes his faults by being an amazing shot stopper and penalty killer, rangel is great going forward not so great at getting back sometimes etc, etc. the plus out weighs the minus with most of our players. Dobbie is a bit different in the respect he is for me a specialist in that position behind the strikers, if he was happy to be a bit part player like Orlandi then im sure Buck would be happy to have him, then use him on the odd occasion but Dobbie wants to play. He deserves credit for wanting first team football and i would love to see him stay here but i guess its one of those where he is never going to be first choice and therefore would prefer to be elsewhere. Gary Monk is happy to be a squad player and do his best when called upon, he has been a mixed bag overall but i respect his attitude and he tries his best, i thought Monk and Tate were ready for the door when we got to championship !! shows how well they raised their game and improved, indeed if it wasn't for monk saving a crtain goal we wouldnt even be here IMO. The prem league is a step too far for them though and i think we have been lucky not to have many injuries,if we did then im sure their shortcomings would be exposed for all to see. It sounds disrespectful to great players of our club and possible future legends but we need to ease out some of the old gaurd over time, i think buck has kept his part of the bargin by giving them prem football and the "difficult decisions " he talked about may come along this summer if we stay up . Dobbie for me just isnt quite good enough in that position in the prem league, we only need to look at what Gylfi brings to see that, we all agree gylfi was the missing link when he came here, maybe a more accomadating team like Blackpool will set up to get the best out Dobbie, though from what i saw of him the other night he didnt like to close down the opposition from the front, that is a big minus in Bucks system and probably his biggest short coming(work rate)
we are not on about blowing hot and cold, its about our no1 striker not hitting the net and out of position to help his team mates have the chance to give him the ball, when he does get it he has been clueless what to do with it and thats why 6 games and zero goals, its time for someone else to play....
