Arsenal have apparently opened negotiations with Bolton officially about Cahill.

The rumoured fee is 17m, but may involve a player on loan (Miguel), and other rumours today state that Bendtner may be used as a make-weight. Not sure of his value going to Bolton, but I'd assume it'll be 10ish million.

With Kevin Davies getting on, Bolton might be interested in the intrepid Dane.

What do you guys think about a) him, b) the potential offers, c) the players potentially involved?

Yeah, I'd go with this. But if we do use Bendtner, then we will need to sign another striker.

If he's 17m, probably 10m of that would be Bendtner. Say 1 or 2m knocked off for having Miguel on loan for a season, so potentially only 5m nett spend for Cahill.

I'd say that's quality business. With 12m for Samba, 2 good CB's for 17m is great business by me!! Plus Miguel gets experience. There's also rumours of a loan to them for Lansbury.

Arsenal seem to have a good relationship with Bolton after the Wilshere loan so perhaps this will strengthen it if it happens.

I just can't really see Bendtner accepting a transfer to Bolton. I think he'd rather go abroad to a "bigger" club.

I actually rate Cahill.

He plays for a pretty poor Bolton side but has all the ingredients to be a World Class centreback.

£17 Million for Cahill seems reasonable when compared with some of the other recent Premierleague transfer activity.

Not sure 100% sure about Cahill too, but I would be happy with us signing him. Just would show the fans the club is trying to improve and has some intent.
He has prem experience, is not bad on the ball and can handle a physical or aerial game. Might give us some English fight too.
Just not sure about his positional play and reading of the game.

I can’t see Bendtner wanting to go to Bolton. With his ego he will want to go to a top-ish team in Europe.
But you never know, he might want to prove himself to the world/Arsenal he is good enough. If he isn’t - I wonder what it will do to his self belief.
Might be what he needs to progress.

Also I cant see us getting two CB's, especially if we spend upto 17m on one. I hope we do get two and let them fight it out.

If Clichy goes, and no LB comes in, then TV could move there. He plays there for Belgium, and did do for Ajax before his move here. He could compete with Gibbs for the spot, and be a backup CB if needed.

At 6foot I wouldn't mind him playing LB, with Cahill, Samba, Kos & Djourou fighting it out for the central spots.

I think a defense of Sagna, Cahill, Samba & TV would deal very well with aerial balls. Just a question of pace in the centrebacks for me then, and positional play. They'd need SEVERE defensive coaching to get them working as a unit as soon as they arrive. I'd want them in on July 1st to give them ALL of pre-season together to get used to it.

Not happy about TV playing left back to be honest. Sure he plays there for Belgium and he played there for Ajax but he looks uncomfortable at left back.

Cahill would be a terrific signing for Arsenal.

Not Samba though, right type of animal, but an complete nutjob/blingtastic/would last 5 minutes in London before imploding

Then you have a very closed-minded-one-eyed-view on football.

Because I can assure you of this, no-one other than an Arsenal Fan would share that view.
