dai I have to agree, although he did play at centre back, i dont think he would be best suited there in the PL. But, to say he is not good enough is utter nonsense. A very good defensive midfield player and would be more than happy if we signed him.

To second that ... he played CB in a three at the back setup and against Brazil won most of the balls in the air from Jo who is a lot taller. He's got a lot of tools in his bag and could provide us with a lot of flexibility.

How much would people be willing to pay?

I'd happily match the €13m (about £11m at the time) Cardiff paid. I think he's that good and would be a perfect fit for us.

That he can also play well at center back (against the right team) is a bonus.

Defensive midfielder is our biggest problem area at the moment.

They're trying to extend Ki's contract apparently but I don't see CDM as his best position.

Would be very happy with Medel and another £5m or so for a quality right back.

If can play anywhere near what he showed us at the WC then how could you say no. :) Ki and jonjo there too with some more height. Ki could be really important this season with his height combined with what swansea need that lovely technique

Ki doesn't use his height well nor does Jonjo particularly; neither come close to Wilf or Nathan (who wins a lot of headers) for actually gaining height when the jump.

Ki got plaudits in Sunderland mostly for his forward play (3 goals in 27 compared to 0 in 30 for us) but they only picked up a series of wins when he was injured.
I'm not sure what he will bring to our party as he didn't really do much in his first season.

looking back maybe could say that, but Monk is putting a lot of trust in Ki and maybe too much, he should get in at least 1 more midfielder imo. But there's definitely a great player in Ki, he is playing for his career, so I hope to see a Ki whos more than up for it this season
