Have to disagree with you there mate ... was there yesterday looking at potential care homes for my mother-in-law, plus my middle girl is at Uni there ... there are some lovely places in the centre close to the castle and when the sun is out the bay is quite stunning ... but like every city it has it's rough bits
After spending a total of five hours in the car last Friday I can confirm the Cardiff City stadium is an absolute **** of place to get to and from in an absolute **** hole part of town. The city centre is great though. Went to a gig there couple of weeks back, some really good watering holes. It's not too shabby for shopping either. I suppose!
You are correct ... my sister in law lives in Canton ... but there are some great pubs and eateries around there - The Dough Thrower (best pizza I've had outside of Rome), La Crêperie De Claudie, Fintan's Fish & Chips, The Lansdowne pub ... first 3 are all on (or just off) Cowbridge Rd East and all worth a visit?
I went there via Newport Rd through Splott and Grangetown so those weren't on my route. Lot's of takeaways though! I've heard of the Dough Thrower but never been.
