What annoys me is the suggestion in the media, not necessarily from him though he has mentioned it, that he's doing this for Wales and the World Cup FFS!

Bale has chosen this option because of the lush lifestyle it provides, the contract money including inevitable endorsement spinoffs, and the future contract options in his deal - we couldn't compete with that and I on a personal level don't blame him at all for taking it.

That final 6 year Real Madrid contract at an alleged £500,000+ a week (£25M p.a.) must have netted him more than £100M in the bin just over that period. He could easily have put something back into the future of the game locally, but a night out in Cowbridge didn't come close to swinging it.

There was always going to be a better option on the table other than at Cardiff. It's a shame he didn't distance himself more positively from a future at our club rather than stringing it along and extracting a contract offer from it. Being cynical, you could say his "closeness" to doing a deal with Cardiff was used to bump up the contract offer from LAFC. We will never know the truth and there's nothing unusual in that.

OK clingo - I will move on now I've got that off my chest.........<laugh><ok>

LA climate better for his young family than South Wales as well. As long as they avoid the dark side.

Personally I can't see why Santa Monica or Venice beaches should be seen as any better than Barry Island myself, but I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

    Onwards we continue.....

Where's the bloody striker we need... C'mon City it's getting on for almost 4 days since we signed a new player!!

The fish and chips are too dear for him down here.........<laugh>

    Anyway..............

So Bale is limited to £25K a week - the maximum you can receive being a "non designated" MLS club player. I think each club can have up to 3 to whom the cap doesn't apply, but our Gareth isn't one of them poor thing.

No problem - Harry and Megan will be on hand in LA to show him how to triple that through Oprah Winfrey interviews, public appearances and sponsorship.

Incidentally, he's the only player in the Welsh squad of any importance for the WC in Qatar - the other 20 odd are just going for a jolly and make up the numbers.

    I'm not biased at all - honest.....<whistle>

    Let's talk about something else.
    How about a politics thread?<yikes>
I've been looking on the Wurzles board. Got a bit frightened and came away.

There's a Boris thread on the salmon fishing forum I use.
I join in for abit of sparring, but it can get very serious, which is when I step away.
Noticed our board studiously avoids politics.
Maybe thats why we all get along.:emoticon-0105-wink:

You don't want to go over there unless you're anti Boris, anti immigrant or anti Russian - well I suppose that includes all of us then.....<laugh>

I tried to inject a little humour over there yesterday on the "Dangerous crossroads" thread picking up on JGF's regular spyplane reports. Actually my post on the thread was spot on true - I nearly dropped the new double glazed unit......<laugh>
