I let that one go, but it's a ridiculous comments, isn't it?
    A clear red card.

I think that most players can be eliminated from the game if you stamp hard enough on their ankle.

I meant, more than the tackle itself, that with Bales apparent, recurrent back problems that he will be targeted with crunching tackles in the same way any other player with recurrent injuries would be (think the most pertinent for us would be the targetting of ol' sicknote in the same manner back in the day?)

Similarly to the tackle thrown at him in the first minutes of the Orlando Pirates game.

Darren Anderton didn't need anyone to stamp on his ankle to get injured though to be fair. But Bale is a marked man and already feeling the rigours of the game. Maybe you should sell him now before he ends up crocked like Woody, King et al...? <whistle>

In all seriousness, I think Gomes is a really weak link for you guys. It's not just one or two flaps either. His decision making is wild and can result in farcical catastrophic outcomes. The double penalty incident at the end of last season was a prime example.

Friedel is a proven keeper, but he's not a long term solution. Why didn't you try and do a deal for Shay Given? Surely Spurs would have been a more exciting prospect than Villa?

probably because the blue Mancs wouldn't sell to us.

And Gomes last season was poor, just as FREEdel was, but Gomes was carrying an injury that he never really shook off.

Gomes the season before was one of the primary reasons we made 4th, don't forget.

And the best way to destroy a keepers confidence, and Gomes thrives on confidence, is to pick an aging keeper on a free and basically say 'well he's better than you!'

I think thats what we've done by getting FREEdel, got a keeper who will last at best a season with us (we're injury prone don't forget) and probably destroyed the keeper we've got.

So in a years time we'll be shelling out top dollar for a new keeper, and EVERONE will know we need to, just like EVERYONE knows we need a striker now.

I don't think Friedel is a top class goalie but i'd take him over Gomes so it's an improvement.

    He's our 4th or 5th choice right-back and it's only a loan.

I wonder if he's left the tour?

You'll probably get more of a response when the season starts properly, BW.
Use the friendlies as practice and don't get too disheartened if you don't get an immediate response.

Have you considered posting directly on the site?
I believe that some articles get linked directly to NewsNow, which would dramatically increase your traffic.

If only Spurs could do that in all our games, we would all be a lot happier (sorry to paraphrase your comment Ennis)

Thanks alot people, :). Was my first match report so just wanted to try and get the ball rolling. But I did find the second half frustrating to write about tbh.

Will definitely get some prem matches done when it starts.

0-3 to us last night. VDV scored 2 and JD scored the other. I hope that makes us happy. I advised patience. We will have a good season and as I posted a while ago I cannot see our strikers having another season like the last one. They will surely improve.
