Game Stats

Just read the report from the Saints game against Brum on BBC website - they won 4 - 1. Now I have always looked at the stats and thought they must be pretty accurate, although I have had my doubts about some of them. Well at the bottom of the report it states - Attempts on target - Saints 3 : Brum 5 . Now I may be old, or perhaps I don't know enough about football, but surely to score 4 goals you have to have at least four goal attempts. One of these was a penalty - it could possibly be that they don't count as a goal attempt ... if that is so then what are they?

 

I've had look and like you can only guess they don't count the penalty.
I wonder also how they classify own goals and deflected goals which were otherwise going wide.

 

I think Morcombe had similar stats when they beat Crawley 6-1. Apparently they only had 2 shots on goal if I remember rightly

The only point proven is city cant score goals at home, even with a multi million pound striker OH ME SIDES!!

 

It doesn`t take into account you have only existed since 1982 so is therefore ficticious
