As was the case with the lies spouted by Nolan yesterday, a few players are using the fans understandable dislike of the board to deflect away from their own typical footballer greed. Barton is no fool, he does care about the club too, but it's no coincidence his arrival on Twitter coincides with him employing a PR guru - the same one that promotes a number of popular indie bands. He was offered a contract, it didn't fall in line with the stupid deal he was after, same as Nolan, so he's decided he wants to leave but still retain his cult status. The whole 'best fans' 'great city 'fantastic club' rhetoric that gets carted out doesnt wash with me, because ultimately, the fans, city and club weren't good enough for either player to sign 'disrespectful' multi-million pound three year deals. If he wants to go, he can, we need to address the issues that the board have created, but don't think that the grievances Barton has go any further than his own personal greed, for gods sake, we backed him while he was in prison.

It all boils down to being an employee of a company. You don't like the way the company you work for is being run. Join the millions of other working people around the world with the same view! Put up or shut up! Or indeed, **** off!

Agree with every bit of this <ok>, well said. Want the guy to stay, he's a great player but his twitter commenting has been a ridiculously transparent attempt to win fans over so if he leaves it will be with as much grace as possible.

FFS, I've no love for this man Ashley, he's made his mistakes but I'm f*cked if I can remember the last time he made a statement or actually performed a negative action apart from everyone's preconceived ideas that he hasn't give us any money to spend!?

This latest debacle of the master debator Barton running away with his mouth [Blackberry] cannot until proven be blamed on our owner.

While I'm sure Barton and the other "top" stars are p*ssed off about the lack of signings, they are hiding behind their preconception that we'll happily believe it's all Ashley's fault. WRONG!!

Enough is enough, I would love Ashley to throw the f*ckin lot of the tweeting whingeing b*stards out of the club or my personal choice would be to buy in much better replacements and see how much whingeing the self proclaimed w*nkers can do playing in the stiffs until their contracts run out !!

Support the team ... forget the regime, Howay The Lads !!

"I will be making an announcement regarding my future, on here at 4pm today........

Maybe he just got a comma in the wrong place and it actually should read:
I will be making an announcement regarding my future on here [twitter], at 4pm today........

Wishful thinking anyway!

Barton, Shearer, Keegan, Steve Jobs and Walt Disney have joined together in a take over bid of Newcastle. first plan of action is a public hanging of Mike Ashley and Lambias. Same noose being used to stay in touch with ashleys money saving regime.

Can't seeing it being anything other than him leaving to be honest. He's repeatedly stated that wanted to see out his contract, so if it was just going to be that again i don't see why he would make such a fuss about it.
