As was the case with the lies spouted by Nolan yesterday, a few players are using the fans understandable dislike of the board to deflect away from their own typical footballer greed. Barton is no fool, he does care about the club too, but it's no coincidence his arrival on Twitter coincides with him employing a PR guru - the same one that promotes a number of popular indie bands. He was offered a contract, it didn't fall in line with the stupid deal he was after, same as Nolan, so he's decided he wants to leave but still retain his cult status. The whole 'best fans' 'great city 'fantastic club' rhetoric that gets carted out doesnt wash with me, because ultimately, the fans, city and club weren't good enough for either player to sign 'disrespectful' multi-million pound three year deals. If he wants to go, he can, we need to address the issues that the board have created, but don't think that the grievances Barton has go any further than his own personal greed, for gods sake, we backed him while he was in prison.
