White Jaidi, from my perspective, there shouldn't be any ambiguity regarding the penalty. Clayton flicked the ball up, it hit your CBs chest and then deflected onto his arm. In response to this, rather than making an attempt to move his arm out of the way, he instead extended his arm in a sort of pushing movement, which then moved the ball from the danger area that Adam Clayton had gotten himself into. It's a clear handball and there's no question with regards to whether or not the penalty stands as the correct decision.

If you look at the guidelines given to referees they talk about arms being in an "unnatural position" when deciding on a handball. The defender raises both arms as Clayton shapes to chip it round him. The ball comes off the defender's chest and hits his right arm. According to those guidelines, if his arms had been down, it should not have been adjudged handball. But by lifting his arms he left it open to interpretation and the linesman interpreted it as handball.

well basically if his hand wasnt there clayton would've flicked it over his head and maybe scored as a result, although by that point he couldnt do anything it was a penalty, people are saying the gradel one was more of a penalty but i disagree, gradel looked for it and left his foot in the challenge to get a penalty, that woulda been a harsh desicison against southampton

It doesnt disguise the fact that it was a poor perforamance by leeds no matter what way you look at it. I just cant believe people want O'Dea back in the team next week, regardless of whether he is a CB playing at LB or not, he was **** in every single part of the game, from memory he made one or two tackles and did not win the tackle every time someone ran at him. Constantly out of positon, most of the time further forward than gradel when we are defending. Not good enough, O'Brien wasnt good enough but i'd prefer him in the team and if we were to drop O'Brien which obviusly isn't unlikely, we should put bromby or lees there, even bruce there

I remember O'Dea making a few very important tackles. I think Larry summed it up perfectly by saying that all the players were out doing there own thing instead of working as a team, and I'm glad to see he mentioned the lack of pressing.

I clearly remember a few. I'm putting down the fact he was out of position a few times down to him not being a natural left back. Hopefully get someone else in and try O'Dea at CB.

Yea i was aware of that but it would be the same problem. I can honestly not see O'Dea much better at CB. regardles of whether your a CB playing at LB, you shouldnt be that much out of position and plus he's played LB so many times before, its not like the first time he has ever played there. I would honestly do anything to try and get him back at celtic at the momemnt

by the same problem i mean playing a CB at LB. Regardless i would prefer lees to be pushed into the team a CB alongside Kisnorbo eventually and if O'Brien plays like that again i think that might just happen

That's true (Tom Lees playing right-back). But right-footed left backs are not uncommon and good left-footed left backs are like hen's teeth. As we well know.

Ben Parker is the best choice at leftback for now. He should have started, and he should be given first choice place, until the club commits to improving the squad and signs a good leftback. Tom Lees should be playing, but at centreback instead of O'Brien. Davide Somma played League 2 on loan and then went into the Leeds team and did well. I think Lees can do the same. He'll be playing for his club, will be full of confidence after a great season for Bury and he has geniune ability. A 19 year doesn't go into a League 2 team, win promotion and their player of year and then be **** at championship level. He's good enough. Certainly better than an aged, average at his best player in O'Brien.

Can anyone give any evidence that O'Dea and O'Brien are better options than Parker and Tom Lees? AOB is yet to play well for Leeds and O'Dea is just a dreadful player, ask Ipswich.
