Its it's not broken, don't fix it. We are doing great, showing real work ethic and flowing football.
Obertan was up against Assou-Ekotto today who is extremely fast, he is a top LB. when we play Wigan on the 22nd, I hope he starts because like Jonas, he offers pace to the side. We have Cabaye and Tiote to string passes out to the players. Oba likes to run with the ball at the defenders, and move into channels

But in my opinion, it's quite clear that he's a weak link. Why should we settle for him when we can improve on him? He doesn't have an end product more often than not and as someone else said he'd be much better as an impact sub, running at tired legs with that rapid pace!

Obertan and Best were certainly the weak links yesterday. Best had his worst game for a while and just didn't seem up for it. I thought he might have fancied doing some running given he has his national manager to impress in that regard! But he was sluggish and switched off a lot of the time. Game ust passed him by. His touch was good again when he did get involved but for me he was lazy. Still he's allowed the odd bad game, even the very top players have them! I wouldn't drop him based on one game, and Ben Arfa still looks like he is game rusty and needs more sub appearances. With Obertan I was very disappointed yesterday. His passing is sub standard and some of his passing lacks thought. But I've been reasonably impressed so far for a new signing and he showed a willingness to work back. I think maybe Marveaux deserves a start but I'm still pleased with Obertans start.

Obertan was by far the worst player on the pitch yesterday. We were sitting in the pub getting to the point where every single person was laughing when he got the ball as they knew the attack was going to break down. And 9 times out of 10 it did. I was annoyed when we signed him. He is not good enough. It's showed nearly every game.

We need a right winger, unless we are gonna play HBA there. I think we should have a pop for Adam Johnson, if we're still in the top 6 and he's not getting reg games at Citeh I could see him being up for it.

We have a wage cap on new signings so I can't see that, I'm sure Xerdhan Shaqiri can play either wing, like Davide Santon at full back

    I agree with that.

He's got pace to burn and I think he had a decent game vs Spurs who are certainly a better team than Wigan. Play him vs Wigan but get him to attack down the line a bit more.

Indeed he can, and up top. I know I keep banging on about him and it may be unrealistic but if he is available he'd be a ridiculous signing. As I say I expect Europes elite will be monitoring but we are pushing for the CL! Haha

We have Wigan at home and then Blackburn away in the cup. Obertan didn't have that bad of a game to what you lot are saying. Oba will run at players. These teams, Wigan and Blackburn are a lot poorer than Spurs and will be available for the taking.

Blackburn and Wigan have worse fullbacks than Spurs and are in dire form. We will most definitely catch them on the break. We are playing fast paced football, we need pacey players like Oba who offer another outlet to the game and so we are not one dimensional.

I actually thought Simpson was our weak link in the team.

Best, Obertan and Simpson werent brilliant, but did we really have a weak link? We played terrifically and matched or bettered Spurs all the way.

Best did his job, he held the ball up for supporting players running up-field. I would start Wigan with Santon instead of Simpson, but if Pardew keeps Simpson, I wouldn't be too dis-heartened.

P.S. I was watching the match on Fox Soccer and I noticed when Santon came on, I had a little chuckle at the mispelt Davide Stanton.

There were a lot of murmurs of discontent in the crowd regarding Obertan and I can understand why, he gave the ball away on numerous occasions and a lot of moves broke down when he received the ball.

What I really can't understand though is his apparent reluctance to run at people despite his strongest asset being pace. I remember Bale on the attack and he kept with him easily and made a challenge; if he can keep up with Bale he can certainly outpace BAE.

Maybe this boils down to the confidence thing people keep referring to, but that excuse will only last so long. He's a professional footballer, and if he wants to get anywhere he's going to have to sort his head out. Start him against Wigan, but if it's another sub-par performance, haul him off and give Marveaux a chance. Keeping him on will only give him the message that he can be average and still keep his place.

That's all Obertan offers I'm afraid, won't see anything else from him.

I think he does some good things and given the strikers are all raving about having wingers he is doing ok. Why has there always got to be some poor ****er everyone picks on.

he get the ball in the right area and he tried to tackle back

he's 22 and soon will have the end product.
