It's a good question and not an easy one to answer because we've got so many talented young players who are all loving life at Sunderland, all of them grafting and building relationships with the fans. So there's a lot to choose from.

To pick one I'd go with Neil. I'm not saying he's currently the best player at the club but he's improving year on year especially with the physical side of the game. I think by the time he's in his late twenties he'll be a superb all round midfielder in the premier league and it'll be with us.

I know the other players are happy at the club but it runs deeper when they're local lads who would be at the games as a fan even if they worked in an office.

The club should already be thinking of how we can use his attributes in the future ...

... there can't be anyone more suited to coaching young players.

He not only shows how sheer dedication pays off, he has endless enthusiasm and knows how to play virtually every position on the pitch.

If they stay long enough 2 players spring to mind for me.
Rigg and Neil, if they dont stay long enough they could still be seen as legends as they could bring a shed load of money into the club when they inevitably leave.

It's hard one. It's like a conversation I've had with my Dad about about what car would you by now, lock it in storage and see if it worth anything in 20 years time.

Win promotion this season and I’m sure a lot of our young starlets won’t want to leave, we’ll have a cracking squad for years to come with KLD running the show. We’ve only sold an injured Stewart for massive profit and back heeled bids for other players. We’re going places and not with dirty money but with a sound business model.

Don't think Dan has any intention of leaving for at least the next season or two...failure to be promoted will definitely change things eventually however.

Hume has the attitude for it and is exactly the kind of player we love at the club, similar to O'Nein with his aggression etc.

Never read the book, mate. What kind of things goes it say? I know Dariusz went back to Poland and was managing there for a bit, but not heard much about him in years.

Howey definitely wasn't a fan, suggested he was an outsider. I can't remember the actual quotes, but the book is worth a read

Does seem funny that he left when we went down, but sort of "disappeared". I know he was at Sunderland University then went back to Poland to manage, but that's the last I'd heard of him. I guess if he was an outsider that explains it and why he's never been back, unlike other ex players

Which set me off wondering who's going to be next to earn that accolade. Most of our squad haven't been here long enough for us to be able to pronounce their names properly let alone have any real bond with them. There are so many possibilities which, in my opinion, is a 360 degree turnaround from the days when I actually hated the majority of our players. Many of them were the kind of big name signings some still seem to pine for but this thread isn't a dig so enough about that.

This a just a bit of fun while we're waiting for the games to start again.

Of course this depends on players staying with us and, as we've seen with Stewart, modern football means things can change quickly. But, just out of interest, who can you see being up there with Rowell, Monty, Quinn et al. O'Nien looks like he's well on his way up the ladder while Rigg is taking his first steps. Ekwah has grabbed his chance to shine while some, like Seelt, haven't even had the chance to show what they can do and are replacing those who were becoming favourites.

I'm going for Ballard, future captain, future International captain and future trophy winner with Sunderland.

Right now i cant see anyone other than Onien. Absolutely amazing guy and a pretty decent footballer that wasn't born with obvious talent, but hardwork,dedication and mental strength has got him where he is

Nice. I didn't have an M3, but I had a very nice 318i, Gun Mettle grey, light grey interior. Nice set of multi spoke 18s. Only mods I made was swapping the orange lenses out of the side and front indicators and replaced the back lights for a white indicator. And some chrome piping strips on the lower splitter in-between the fogs, and replaced the black kidney grills with a chrome finish. Looked smart as anything and added subtle changes. It hated me in the snow like. I agree, E46 now has legendary status. the 5 series of that generation was very nice aswell.

Mine was also gunmetal, which was quite rare in them, most were blues or blacks.

I didn’t mod a thing on it, was my ‘dream car’ and it lived up to it, only sold it as moved to Spain, and strongly debated taking it over there could have cried the day I sold it.

Got a 440i now, totally different cars. I love it but you just can’t drive cars like you could then, they won’t let you.

Tough lad O'Nien, just casually pops his arm back in and cracks on. I agree with the other posters putting him forward as a future legend, whatever happens in his playing career from now on I'd love to think that we'd offer him a job coaching the kids.

Btw I like Johnson saying "We need you this second half" not are you ok to go back out there. I don't know if Johnson was the type of player to treat two dislocations in one game as no big deal but I doubt it.
