if we do keep steve bruce then how much money should he expect in the summer considering he has spent alot of money during his tenure so far with only a few decent signings amongst them all, we all know that we need to strenghten in most areas but is ellis short gonna keep plugging 20 million plus into the team each season for 14th.

If, as has been stated on a different thread, his net spend is currently £6m... I expect quite a lot of money to improve on what's been a disappointing season. Dependent on outgoing players... I can only speculate as I have no hp within the club maybe around the £35-40m mark

NO i wouldnt give him 50p and a canny bag of tudor

I think he's spent well apart from riveros (was he free?) and angeleri, he got us cracking deals for bramble and the mig. If he stays, 30-40 mil will probably be about right.

£30-40 mill? Not in a million years. Sorry chaps.

Few things you have to remember:

1). Game attendances are lower than they should be, and overall club revenue isn't that high. At the year end of 2010, the turnover was 65.4mill. That's not far off our (NUFC) turnover of £52mill in the relegation season (down from £86.1mill).

2). Your turnover resulted in a £5mill loss, and player trading resulted in a net loss of £25.5million.

This bears two questions: where will the money come from to buy £30-40mill worth of players and then pay for all of their wages?

Also:

1). Short won't pump money into the club forever after yet another season which has fell well short of expectations.

2). Short isn't stupid. Let's say you guys DO have a big reserve of cash to spend. If Bruce stays on, do you really think that Short will risk giving him all this money, plus a big chunk of his own cash, to spend on yet more players? How many chances do you think Short will give Bruce to gamble with so much cash?

Our £35million Carroll money is being chopped up into £20mill for actual transfers, and £15mill for wages and other costs (this may be on top of an existing transfer budget for next season). I think some of you are underestimating how much wages will add to the turnover of the club when it's already making a substantial loss. If you guys want some top players, you may have to cough up at least £50,000 per week. Over a year, that's already 2.6mill, over a 4 year contract, that's £10.4million.

So yeah, I can't see where £30-40mill would come from, or why Short would risk it in the current club setup after so many disappointing results. Not having a dig. Just being realistic.

I think it's getting to the point where he sacks Bruce or heavily backs him. I'm judging it as a fan and not a business man. No rhymes intended.

The question was if we keep Steve Bruce.. how much will we give him. I can't see why we'd keep Bruce without a massive overhaul of the squad, because it's certainly not working now. Bruce wants 8 players. That's £4-5m per player on average, which if we're being honest isn't ridiculous as Quinn and Bruce stated that we'd be breaking our transfer record this summer. There's £13.1m accounted for.

However I don't think we'll keep him if I'm being realistic.

I think the 8 new players will be:
2-3 loans, about £2m - £6m in loan fees, could be £60k pw in wages
1-2 bosmans, another £60k in wages
1 transfer breaking forward, that's £13m+ transfer & £50k pw in wages
so that's 2 - 4 in transfers, about £8m - £25m in transfers & £30kpw - £60k in wages.

In total: £23m - £45m in transfers & £200k pw in wages. So £30m - £55m.

That's a lot of money. Have we got it?

Short has most definitely got it. Does he want to spend it...

Chappaz is on the money with what he has said( no pun intended) when you consider what percentage of your current turnover is swallowed up on players wages, I wouldn't of thought you will be getting anything near 30-40 million. After all, the extra money he is pumping in now is keeping you lot going.
Not having a pop hear either, just looking at your situation realistically.

I think the thing is... if it's not pumped in. We're only going in one direction. Depends on Shorts ambition.

He won't necessarily just 'have it', you know. Being a billionaire doesn't just mean that you have a billion quid sitting in the bank. In the vast majority of cases for almost every billionaire on earth, it comes from the evaluation of assets. No one knows how much raw cash he has to spend.

No matter how many billions a person apparently has, £30-50mill is an awful lot to ask for - especially with a LOT of initial investment has failed to provide any return and actually reduced the overall chances of making any return on investment at all while he's owner.

It's something he will very, very carefully consider, whilst looking at every option. Logic will almost certainly come before the emotions of ambition.

I'm not saying he's got a billion pounds under his bed or in a current account. But I'm sure a multi billionaire is so leveraged that he can't find £30-40m within the space of a few months.

However whether he wants to put it in, as I asked before... I don't know.
