Following recent comments, if the media are to be believed, from our chairman, Malky will now have to fund new additions by pawning off players down the pecking order and not currently in his plans.

I don't see many, if any additions made in January unless a continental bargain or two are spotted and bagged early.Could however be a chance for the youngsters to break into the squad.

I would have thought we would be unloading some, whether Tan comes off that high horse and allows the returns to be spent on new is a different matter.
We have a few on the books that could go, Brayford(whoever he is) is an obvious one.
Strange how even some of the best managers let dislikes or off field issues get in the way of team selection, DJ always done it and it seems MM has a bit of it going on.
 
Maybe another Ridsdalesque golden season ticket deal will be touted soon to help fund transfers. Aren't we soon going into the fifth year of the current deal?
 
I doubt Noone or Cowie would go in January. Brayford will probably go cut price, I would not be surprised if Maynard went and Connolly would go if the price was right. However, it would not be enough to bring in any decent players or force Tan to have a rethink. I would suggest he's more interested in finding another manager at the moment.
 
What good manager in their right mind would want to work for tan and his north korean ways...<ok> Anyone think that the next manager will be from malaysia or one of his uncles or even aunties ..<laugh> No in all seriousness the way he is sprouting off in the press and the way he portrays himself as "his way or the highway" is not a good attraction for future managers or players to ever think of considering..

If money was raised from the sale of some of the players named then I hope it would be used to recruit better players so the quality of the squad would be improved not diluted. Mind you how you can sell 3 players for, say, £2m total (just plucking a figure not related to any of the players listed individually or in total) and get in better players for the same of less than that I don't know.

I suppose loans are the option so any fees for outgoing players plus their wages helps fund incoming although most clubs now want loan fees as well.

However, our loans experience is not very good (Bellers and Barnett being exceptions - as they wanted to be here and do well and not just mark time).
 
With the transfer budget being over-spent to the tune of an alleged £15 million I do not see Tan funding purchases in January unless that over-spend is recouped and more. If he is using his business head that is logical and makes sense. He gave a budget of £35 million and Malky must have been impressed with that figure. Now what the transfer budget included we may never know but it has been suggested Tan included signing on fees and salaries in the budget. Malky, apparently thought it only meant the actual transfer fee.
The reality is probably in the middle and the finance director should have made it clear to both parties what was allowed for in the budget.

I do not think we will get any players in during the transfer window but I see some being shipped out to reduce the over-spend, this will placate Tan some what but I do not think it will repair the damage to the relationship.

I think MM's attitude to loaning players is a little different to the scatter gun approach used by DJ though. We have players that would be in demand but they are the first line of replacements when we get injuries. The ones below that Velikonja, Kiss, Lapin are stuck here. We will need to take a hit on those players and they are unlikely to free up any significant funds. Therefore surely you just leave them in the squad just in case and try to sort it out in the summer.

If MM's position is as precarious as it seems and he does make it to January, surely the club will be not want him binning players for a loss when the new man may be able to use them. I know that is stretching it with Kiss and Lapin but Velikonja hasn't even been given the chance to fail.
 
I have to say MM has had some of the strangest signings I've seen, he builds these signings up and then doesn't even play them, they don't even make the bench.
Loans might be a good idea the way things are, so freeing up the wages will help here.
