Agree it was a good point. I thought the prseeing was disjointed and they need a trigger when to press as a team, it still looked like individuals half a second out of synch.Hopefully Ivan the terrible will sort that quickly
Harsh comment after the ineffective play with style we have suffered the last 4 months. It was grim watching, but think that was the kind of performance we all wanted as a stepping zone
Worth noting that “high press” was flavour of the month a few seasons ago, so most of these players would have come across it before at some stage in their footballing careers, so hopefully it doesn’t take too long to pick it up again
Firstly I thought he was still waiting for his work permit so,if true, he can’t yet start working officially. Secondly, without the permit we would probably have breached Premier League rules too.
Whatever your thoughts on the Guardian politically, they have very good sports (and music) reporting. This is pretty much spot on - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/dec/22/fulham-southampton-premier-league-match-report
Thinking more about it, I'm so pleased that Woody is proving himself ten times the player that Stephens is, and that Lesley seems to have a new lease of life following RM's departure. Am hoping we keep him, as that kind of energetic DM is precisely one of our problem positions right now. I feel quite strange about the whole RM time at the moment, like I've been gaslit for ages by him saying how great that style is, and how but for some luck we were nearly a great team. We weren't, and he was actually pretty awful with how stubborn he was. In two games we've been very simply shown how absurd the whole thing was.
I like the comment about how long Rambo was taking over goal kicks. From the very first minute I thought Rambo was walking incredibly slowly to fetch a ball for a goal kick and I was surprised he got away with it.
Russell Martin is the king with no clothes. Instead of two tailors convincing him that his clothes are made of invisible materials he’s had fellow managers telling him how good his tactics were and why wouldn’t they, knowing that it was an easy three points.
A friend of mine is a huge Chelsea fan and was raving about him at the start of the season. Shea Charles has been smashing it at Sheffield. IMO these aren’t coincidences. Martin is just an unfathomably bad manager. It’s looking like we got promoted in spite of him. I guess we’ll see in the next few weeks & months how good/bad he is. If we start picking up points, the club will look so stupid
Here's my take on it, and this goes for any 'injury'. Play should continue, physios should be allowed to enter the field of play. You're still considered 'active' so you could potentially play someone onside. I think you'd see a lot less feigning.
Could cause some problems tbh. I can Imagine the physios getting in the way and stopping a goal etc. But something does need to be done imo. The play acting is outrageous now, we have become like Serie A / La Liga in the last few years
