The downfall is probably necessary in the long run. Let's just be brutally honest and accept that they'll need a bigger manager that's got experience in managing at a high level.
Howe is becoming increasingly dull in his approach and all he seems to want to do is add more safe, expensive buys that are easy to manage.
He's sold the idea of having good characters in the dressing room, but they all look utterly miserable, so that's all worked out nicely hasn't it.
Howe's days are numbered I think! I feel like there's a power struggle over control in recruitment and I think he probably hung around waiting for this job and it isn't what he thought, so he's not that arsed either way.
Howe was quite sly/foxy in the way he hung around rejecting jobs until he thought he'd caught the big one and I would wouldn't be surprised if he jumps ship before this one sinks.
Would I blame him ? No! I think him taking the England job would be good for him and it'll help the club freshen things up.
