http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15812092.THE_VERDICT__Pellegrino_can_t_get_a_break/ Article in Echo saying that Pellegrino can't get a break.....referring to the fans' outburst when Hojbjerg was replaced by Lemina despite the fact that Saints were winning. Roughly what has been discussed on here. Tells us that the fans' patience has run out and MP2 has a mountain to climb to regain it; fans need lessons in how to support a side....what must Lemina (a recent fan favourite) have thought as the fans were basically saying that he wasn't good enough (whatever their real intention)
So you prefer all players to be specialists in one role only, and have no utility types? And to be honest I've got just as much faith in JWP and Davis creating anything at the moment as I do Tadic. Good thing is they actually get back and graft too. And they don't fall over every time they are touched.
JWP will outlast some of our fans.. He is a good deliverer of the ball and a reliable player. He is Saints through and through (with the proviso that he may still choose to go elsewhere for his career's sake). Like Davis, he is a player's player and teams need someone like him.
Umm no? I don't believe I said that? If a player excels at something (in this case either creativity or defending) then they get branded with the AM or DM role. JWP doesn't excel at either so doesn't and, as you say, is more a utility player. I don't dislike him or think he is terrible, but likewise I don't think he is really good either. He is a decent PL footballer and if we were to go down I think a PL team would probably want him, someone midtable/bottom half would go for him I reckon, whether he would go is another matter.
No, I meant despite Wanyama! You may remember that I never really thought of him a a proper footballer despite the occasional towering display.
