Hmm I doubt the Journal would have a clue to be honest. It just sounds like guesswork. They rarely get anything right and even less now they are kept at arms length. The Journal and Chronicles coverage of the club since the ban has been comical. A lot of "sources" and people "close to the club" <laugh> Not that it was much cop prior to it to be honest.

Whoever was responsible, it was a poor decision, but if I was guessing I'd say Carver was making the calls or at the very least having a very large say in proceedings.

John Carver comments about it seem to suggest so:

"I spoke to him (Pardew) coming off the pitch at half-time. It was only a couple of points, then I spoke to him towards the end of the game. We had an analyst in the hotel with the gaffer and one on the bench with us.

"It was pretty brief. He was really calm at half-time. The manager has been OK this week, he has been lively, he has had a big part to play this week on the training ground."

Shola entered the game on 71st minute so not really the end of the game. Obviously I know some would relish the opportunity to bash Pards for any given reason, but it appears they'll have to give Carver the heat for that one. I can think of an angle though. "Pardew would have done the same anyway, and Carver has worked with him so long he has clearly been brainwashed". Or "it was probably a plan put in place by Pards pre game". Or "Aliens are upon us, Sky TV are a disgrace, Pardew made the Shola sub - these are all known facts"

The best part of yesterday was meeting up with some of the fans that have been going to the away games for years, when we stopped off at a Motorways Services Station. The coaches they were on pulled in within minutes of us and we all just bumped into each other.

We've been to a quite a few games and traveled quite a few miles together.

None of us feeling particularly happy about the fayre that was served up but still looking forward to the Southampton game.

Although there may be conflict in terms of Pards, there is none in relation to Ameobi. However both manager and assistant manager prefer him over Armstrong. Whichever way that's spun it's sh1t.

More inept ****ing ****, struggling clubs must love it when we roll into town......keep the ****ing faith eh!......As for webb<laugh>

Terrible game we should be refunded by the club for our tickets and travel expenses. The team just didn't turn up.

The most exciting time of the day.

    Isn't it just!

The journey home was one of the worst ever. Did you travel down with the BP?

Saw some of the regular travellers with them in a Motorway stopover.
