We were brilliant today! The stats on the big screen said 22 shots and 52% possession. Medel was outstanding. Kim and Pete were superb. Turner will be in the England reckoning if he keeps this up. Today was a new level for this side and we showed we will be able to play on the front foot in this league. I'm absolutely over the moon!!
We seem to be playing the right way against the right team, and sometimes that isn't to everyone's liking. But today we took the game to them and it paid off, most pleasing. Well done MM, it might not always be pretty football, but you are getting results.
What a great performance, we played really well and were unlucky to be pegged back at half time. We lost our way for about 10 mins when Mutch came on as he and Gunnarson seemed to be playing in the same position and left us a little light on the left hand side. Medel was outstanding and had a pass rate of about 99% he seem to be taking control of the players around him now and they are responding to him, for 10 million he is an absolute bargain and wouldnt look out of place in any of the top teams from any country. Odemwingie looked very good, just needs to get his match sharpness and he will score goals. Defensively we looked very tight and kept Berbatov and Bent quiet, not a lot could be done about the Ruiz goal (fantastic strike). Theo is going to be our first choice right back and got up and down the wing well. Still dont think Whitts is the answer on the left side of midfield but where else can we play him ??? Was happy to see us taking the game to Fulham and showing we can actually play an offensive game
For mr Medel was MOM, seemed to be popping up everywhere and almost always in control and so far no sign of the hothead we were lead to believe he was.
I really like Medel, he goes about his job quietly and always appears calm on the ball, long may it continue. Theo is quality and Caulker is going to be our main CB for a long while (I hope) Odie seemed to pop up everywhere and his work rate was excellent. A bit annoyed at the ref disallowing Caulkers 2nd goal, fair challenge on the keeper, but generally he did okay. My stream was garbage for the first half so may have missed a lot of talking points but i think we bossed them, inspirednsubsitution by Jol or desparation, not sure but paid off. 2nd half Fulham seemed a bit more organised and I had settled for the draw (I predicted 2-2) but good on Jordan Mutch, a superb goal and I realy believed we deserved the win today.
Haven't seen the game yet but congratulations on a fantastic result! Think this is going to be a very interesting season and absolutely wide open. Both Manchester teams losing to supposedly 'smaller' teams. Sunderland and Crystal Palace look to be favourites for the drop at the minute and truly believe you will be absolutely fine! The 'big boys' have the expensive 'superstars' but you are playing as a proper team - no ego's just every player playing for every other player. Keep up the good work guys; your report card from your first term at 'big school' is going to make every member of your family very proud!
Have just watched the game on MotD! You looking pretty damn good - Mutch's goal - wow - just WOW!!!!!!!!! And 22 shots to 9! You're beginning to look like the real deal! Good luck guys; have made no secret of my support for you, regardless of the grief it has caused me, but honestly believe the EPL can be 10 percent Welsh for some time to come! Amen to that!
Thanks cartoon-head. Your comments are appreciated as always, positive or negative the are usually objective. A long way to go, but more than we could hop for so far. MM seems a shrewd manager and obviously does his homework on every team we play. Apart from the WH game first up when first night nerves got the better of us we've played well. Not always pretty, but effective. You could argue we were lucky to get a late goal yesterday, but I think we deserved it. The reverse of the Spurs game when we conceded at a similar time. The new boys are bedding in. It always takes a time for new players to settle, but Medel, Caulker and TC look better with each passing game. Odemwingie also looks a bargain signing. Not going to have a long term future with us like most of the signings MM has made, but adds a bit of experience and nous. Your boys have had an up and down start. Playing well, but not always getting the results and dropping points where last season you were picking them up. As I said, a long way to go, but will take what we've got at the moment.
This morning trying to explain to Lady Swan how i got these bloody black grab marks on my arms and scratches down back , would like to thank that little fecker who jumped on me after Mutch hit the winner
John mate, let's try to understand this...he jumped on you, grabbed you tight, and he was a fecker yeh? Hmmmm sorry to hear that....wos he good looking though?
Seems like someone popped over to Soho before the game The stand was rocking, never seen so many blokes hugging since i got caught in a Gay pride festival in Paris
