You've been reading too many scare stories. I'll take my chances after looking at this http://www.24horasnews.com.br/esportes/ver/bandeirinhas-gatas-conquistam-fas-nos-estadios.html or at least I would have about 20 years ago!
checked the online results database. yep, we have played Fulham in all 4 divisions + both cups. Swansea likewise.
Fulham - behind the goal and a fairly 'friendly' place to take a young child. You'll hate it, but he won't. Villa is a ****e view and you're tucked into a corner at an awkward angle.
London Weighting - if like me you work for a national company , i sometime cant help but feel i subsidise my lower wage to pay for some twat doing the same job in London - to counter the fact that everything costs more down south as the idiots will pay anything to smell the cockles and mussels under a Pearly Queens Dress !! They have more money than sense 'coz we bloody give it to them indirectly !!!
London weighting is not that good, the difference I make in London weighting to others in the regions is around 2.5K. Now take into account the cost of accommodation in London, or the commute into London and the wage difference is wiped out completely. For example I live near Maidstone and the cost of an annual rail ticket (45 miles) is over £4200 a year.
In London doing exactly the same job I could only earn about another 3k per annum. Doubt I could have the same standard of living as I do here. Not even sure how people can afford the rents/mortgages in London. Seems almost impossible to me.
London weighting is insignificant but it's a lot easier to get a much bigger income by working harder.
Not sure how I could work any harder. I already work hard enough. Plus as I work for the NHS the salaries are relatively similar across the country. I could earn shed loads more if I went to work for private hospitals but as I am a specialist in my area and they are in short supply nationally then I feel loath to do that.
There's always restrictions for some people but if you are not affected by those restrictions then my point applies.
Do you mean working in the private as opposed to the public sector? Or just the type of job you do whatever sector it is in?
then the solution is for those struggling in the SE to move elsewhere - im not talking individually , i mean as a collective . As Britain is so London centric the SE needs a real population shift and Jobs to follow that shift to create a level field. The Industrial towns of the North and the Midlands made the country the powerhouse it was until WW2 whilee the big traders out of London earning off what was going on in the Caribbean and India.
I think it applies mainly to the private sector. The public sector is much more regimented. My stepdaughter was earning really good money but she had to do a lot of travelling so she changed her employer but had to take a big pay cut but within a year she got increases nearly back to her old level.
