  2. Of course it is, the lad is unsettled at Fulham because he wants to join us. That is disrupting Fulham.

    1. tapping up involves talking to the player not the press... if fulham don't get that they are fools.

    2. nothing will come out of this at all but this little story. FA will do nothing at all.

    3. fulham will be stuck with dempsey til he goes on a free.

    4. Fulham just earned some emnity so i hope when they come to town we hammer into them and show them what for, cold water i nthe showers, backed up bogs etc etc...

I fear Fulham will beat us without Dempsey, seems to be a trend at the moment. Like Swansea winning their first PL game 5-0 without BR and we lost ours 3-0. Personally I am pleased for them but they did have their laugh.

I have some sympathy for fulham. The player has now so much power over their club. We didn't like it when our players were constantly unsettled: Gerrard Torres alonso Masch and a few others.

It is the survival of the fittest. The strong guy bullies the weaker guy and so on. Just glad we are not at the bottom of the food chain <ok>

I'm not sure how strong our case will be- reckon you agreed personal terms with Dempsey on the day the website released the message saying he had joined, don't think any formal bid had been made at that point. Don't know if it's just a case of you waiting until another player has left before offering money, or if you're trying to drive the price down.

Think Jol might have taken issue with Rodgers saying there had been an enquiry- which to Rodgers means just asking and to Jol probably constitutes a bid. I'm not sure what the resolution would be- Liverpool pay Fulham Dempsey's wages from the time that website released non-story to now to cover the unsettling effect it had on him. Can't really see it happening. At this point I just want Dempsey gone and the situation resolved- £7.5m sounds reasonable now that he is unwilling to play, would have hoped for £10m though.

The problem for you guys is that no-one in the prem really wants Shelvey, Spearing or Adam, Championship clubs might be interested, but then they will struggle to agree personal terms. I can't see how you can raise any further (significant) money for transfers without selling Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Johnson, Lucas or Suarez- which wouldn't be worth doing.

Or, we don't sell anyone in this window and we dont buy Dempsey.

But you having seen our club's bank accounts are telling us that we cant afford to buy him without selling.

I'm working on the basis of what has been reported http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...pool-transfers-clint-dempsey-is-still-1274128, more than willing to entertain the fact that the article was wrong, but it is consistent with what Henry said when he took over http://articles.latimes.com/2011/feb/05/sports/la-sp-jones-soccer-20110206

    Consistent in what way exactly?

Henry stated that "money would not be an issue" PROVIDED the player fitted the profile established by FSG

What part of that suggests we have no money or have to sell in order to buy?

Hence why I'm willing to entertain it being wrong

Henry said Liverpool would be run in similar fashion to baseball's Red Sox.

"We've always spent money we've generated rather than deficit spending," he said, "and that will be the case in Liverpool. It's up to us to generate enough revenue to be successful over the long term. We have not and will not deviate from that."

The thing is- to open up new avenues of income, CL particularly, you pretty much have to run at a deficit initially- it's a gamble, because if you invest in the players and then don't make CL then there is a big gap between what's come in and gone out.

  16. I am extremely happy with that situation. Always said I didn't want us to have a sugar daddy, I just wanted us to be debt free <ok>

    'Deficit'?

What deficit?, are we bankrupt?, have we not made any signings this close season(even on loan players wages need to be paid)?

You're having a laugh to suggest we cant afford to sign players mate.

FSG got their fingers burnt in the transfer market last season and they are being astute in their dealings from now on.

As for generating revenue, apart from the usual sources plus the two cup finals FSG have got LFC the biggest shirt deal in the prem plus other partners and sponsors ,so plenty of revenue there eh.

indeed.. all henry is saving is we'll make a shed load of cahs and spend that not borrow moeny from banks like moores did to give houllier to run up 70mil debt nor g&H who borrowed everything and handed rafa about 50mil of borrowed money to spend.

If we see we've invested 15mil in allen, 11mil in borini and are able to pay "whatever" to real for sahin's services... well that suggests we made about 30mil profit which is what was said all the way back in may!

if we can invest 30mil ever year then it requires VERY careful choosing of players. but then name the sides outside of chelsea and city who are not doing very similar...

I'm willing to guess before looking that arsenal and utd's net spends is not that much more if more at all.

The Mirror also suggests that Liverpool could be hit with a points deduction. What a load of rubbish.
