I don't know who Jacqueline Button is, but she knows a thing or two about football. She passed me back in March and has never looked back. I was hoping to finish in the top three, but that looks like a lost cause now.
She's Penguin, DR. Back in the first cup we did she was describing her side as 'more of a cup team'. She's moved out of our league since then. I'm still hoping to hold you off and maybe get up to 4th. To be honest, I've been focusing more on my other league where I'm in a tight title race. Myself and another manager have swapped the top spot back and forward for each of the last three weeks. Fulham fans, of course, have a higher standard of management than the rank and file, hence this one is proving the tougher league for me to shine in!
Cheers DR, you've made my afternoon with that post! In fact, so has Bidley in descibing me as a "lady"! I'm quite amazed at how well I've done and I don't know how I've done it. I think I was very much mid-table and doing well in one of the earlier cups when I descibed Tootif as a cup team but since then fortunes have reversed and I'm chasing the title! Having said that, I'm not remotely expecting to win and will be very happy if I finish in the CL places. At least I know that I will finish as top bird!
Cheers Ms. Penguin, I'm so glad I made your day. Not only do I think you'll be top bird, but you'll probably be top Fulham fan in our little league when it's all said and done. My only hope is that I catch and surpass the captain when it's all over. I"m not sure what happened in week 34, fewer than half my players were awarded points, which makes me wonder if there's a big payoff coming some day soon when all the backed up league games get seen through.
Was week 34 the week of the FA cup semi finals where we didn't play and nor did quite a few other teams? Lots of teams have 2 games this week so hopefully that will make up for it. Fingers crossed!
I seem to have morphed into Tottenham. Was coasting in 4th, but have just realised there are three teams within 10 points and I could easily end up 7th!
Here are the QF results: Fulhamyself 71 (with 6 extra pts from Dempsey) The Dembele Flops 88 (6 extra from Clint) Cravendale 60 (9 extra from Hangeland) Fulhamdad 13 87 (9 from Hangeland, 6 from Dempsey) Dempsey's Revenge 86 (6 from Dempsey, 4 from Murphy) Europa Dreaming 98 (6 extra from Hughes and Dempsey, 4 from Pog) McBride's Legion 110 (12 extra from captain Clint, 6 from Riise the Elder) Megson's Barmy Army 88 (6 extra from foot-soldier Clint) Which means the semi-finals (starting tomorrow) are as follows: Dembele Flops vs McBride's Legion Europa Dreaming vs Fulhamdad 13
My lead at the top is down to 7 points having led for a large part of the season I would be pretty gutted to bottle it on the final day. I'd be like Man U, throwing away an substantial lead at the top. Fair play though to penguin if I get caught, may the best man/woman win!
I'm not feeling confident, Robes but I'm glad we've managed to keep the title race going for as long as the real thing!
Semi-Final results: Dembele Flops 44 (including 7 bonus points from Dempsey) McBride's Legion 76 (including 14 bonus points from Captain Dempsey, 6pts from Riise the Elder and 2pts from Whatever-happened-to-Bobby Zamora) Europa Dreaming 67 (including 7 bonus points from Dempsey, 2 pts from Hughes and 2pts from the Pog) Fulhamdad 13 42 (including 7 bonus points from Dempsey and 2 pts from Hangeland) Which means McBride's Legion will play Europa Dreaming in the final this weekend. Godspeed to all concerned.
And the winner of the Cottage Cup is... Europa Dreaming 52 (including 2 extra points for the Pog and 1 for Aaron Hughes) McBride's Legion 35 (including two extra points for each of Damien Duff and Bobby Zamora, plus 1 for Riise the Elder) Well played, Froggy. Commiserations SuperBrian. You got a lot further than the rest of us!
And while we're at it, well done for winning the league, Megson's Barmy Army. I've forgotten who you are - are you Robespierre (in disguise)? Congrats whoever you are.
