Should really have won today but last 2 games have been bad, outplayed by 2 relegation sides in 2 weeks, and the unnerving things is after they scored they looked the more likely to get a winner, they were pushing harder and getting the ball rolling faster, even koren casually strolled off as if we were hanging on to a 1-0 lead away at old Trafford and the centerbacks didn't even go up for a free kick not far outside the box! Still, every team has a rough patch look how Leicester and Cardiff were running away with the top two spots then Leicester slipped up we went from about 7 points behind to 7 points in front now it's all even again. At least we're slipping up against teams who won't threaten our cause and giving promotion rivals the points. Get a striker and a right back in and play the first team against Barnsley in the cup hopefully get back to winning ways. I'd like to see how a Stewart/Proschwitz partnership works out coz Simpson clearly isn't up to it.
So last month this championship leading team was doing a great job, this month we are struggling. Daft lads posting crap. We have lost two vital cogs for a short time, just like very club does. Get over it you ****ing plastic ****s.
Who's to say they will maintain that for till the end of the season? We won 5 out of 6 in December and now we have had a little blip people are saying we are out of the race! Every team has a bad spell during any season - Cardiff and Leicester can have them, too. Also remember last season - Southampton and West Ham looked nailed on for automatic places until suddenly Reading went on a great run and took the title (after we beat them in January) - who is to say we won't go on another great run? Elmo back + proven goalscorer in = good chance of top 2 finish
Donât get me wrong, I hate all the reactionary negativity. But I think a lot of these posters who write things like the first three posts on this thread have the excuse of being either young or dim. The young will have only witnessed a successful City and wonât have experienced the likes of administration, Dolan, record low gates, scrapping for league survival etc. Further, theyâll have been brought up believing the ****e spoken by the likes of Lawro, Sky TV and probably enjoy the commentary of that **** on ITV. The dim are incapable of rational thought. The worst combo and I frankly suspect this to be the case for the first three posters, is being young and dim of course.
We are told by all and sundry in the media that Cardiff and Leicester are the best 2 teams in the division - so with 18 games to go and 54 possible points to play for, to be level on points with Leicester and only 7 behind Cardiff (10 IF they win their game in hand) when we haven't got a top quality "fox in the box" isn't anything even mildly eye-brow raising - we are almost certainly to get a decent striker (the Eygptian being talked about on other threads looks promising) and let's not forget Bruce has experience of taking teams up.
I can't see what some of you are on about, saying "the top 2 seems beyond you". You are on level points with Leicester in 2nd, you're a good enough side, and just need a little bit of added quality this month by the sound of it. The top 2 is nowhere near beyond you.
I remember feeling much worse after seeing the Pompey(a) followed by the Coventry (h) games last season........... Have a little faith.
You should see what some idiots down here say about us! Some things are along the lines of "We just won 2-1 away on a terrible pitch, I can see us finishing 3rd as we are not good enough". Some people know very little about football.
A point away from home is always good against any team in this league, i know its disappointing because we were winning but we go into February in joint 2nd. A lot depends now on any signings we make, we have always said January is so important. We do need to get winning again lets hope we bring the right people in and it makes the difference
since we mauled leeds we have been ****, but 2 of those were much changed teams in the cup, one was played on a **** tip of a pitch and today we were missing our 2 most influential attacking players (imo) . it seems the striker we crave might not be far off, bruce has a couple of weeks now to concentrate on transfers and getting things sorted out for the next league match...( i know its the cup next week but i doubht hel waste too much of his energy on that to be honest) and the league table still says we have more then a fair chance so lets not right it off just yet.
I was slightly surprised by the team selection today. I thought there was a slight chance that Faye may be dropped but I didn't think Hobbs merited being left out of the team. Maybe it was a tactical selection as Peterborough had some quick attacking players which may have troubled slower players like Hobbs and Faye. In addition, I didn't think Simpson merited a recall.
There will be ups and down throughout the season, better we have a small dip in form now, rather than towards the end. Cardiff I am sure will have dip as well as Lesta, it will be the team that comes good at the right time that will finish up in the top 2. If we get a striker in that starts putting it in the net, like Jason Roberts did for Reading last season, then we can make the final push for the top 2.
no form book is ever written on two games we have now had a mini slump twice now after beating TWS , im sure we can get back on the 'oss like the first time
Don't be to downbeat guys, Posh beat us at home to end our unbeaten run and they are much improved as of late, a point away off them is not to be sniffed at. I'm still hoping it's the 2 of us in the auto spots at seasons end
What makes me laugh is that if you check their message board (London Road Dot Net), they're all saying how they were the better team and that we were 'really ****'. I'm not sure how they can justify calling our performance **** whilst saying it was worse than theirs. They - the HOME team - had ONE shot on ****ing target!
And that was a penalty! In all fairness, it's because they're used to getting romped, so when a team turns up and is off par, it makes them look a lot better than they're used to.
Outplayed? They were dreadful and we should have won comfortably if we hadn't decided to settle for what we had instead of finishing them off!
