Welcome. And I agree. We are just going to have to get behind the team and do the best we can. We will know doubt buy in January for crazy money. Why the hell didn't we sign Dempsey before selling Carroll? Just bad all round really.
Seems BR wanted Sturridge in and Carroll out, but tbf Jatt it's FSG and Ian Ayre that negotiate the deals so it's on their heads that we got our fingers bitten.
Ha ha ha Noblelox did you just respond to perceived "hissy fits" with a ......hissy fit? What made yours more manly, all the swear words?
Hmm, well we should have sorted out something for the Sturridge deal or atleast stalled the Carroll deal until we had assurances over Sturridge.
...and BR today learnt a valuable lesson from being at a big club, "stop doing what Harry Redknap did and tell the media everything". It just bits you on the arse.
I'm personally not bothered by Dempsey, but here is the thing, our manager clearly was. If he was fishing around for players he only deemed to be worth £4mill then I think we have a problem. If someone at the club in charge of negotiating the deal thought he could pull a swift one on Fulham, then we have a problem. If our ownership didn't trust our manager enough to move the 'financial goalposts' by £2mill we have a problem. If we loaned out Carroll with the hope of bringing in a cheap replacement, then we have a problem. I don't think this drastically changes how we are going to perform this season, but it does fill me with doubt about the decision makers at the club (given what else has happened under the current ownership). Beer rant over, im off to get a snickers
Kenny was the coach, he never fixed the transfer fees, that was the job of the board and in particular the DoF. You don't blame a club legend for something he had **** all to do with. If we had paid £5M for each of those players, no-one would have raised an eyebrow to them all being flops. I was made up we got Adam, delighted, but like the others, he turned out to be a poor fit at the club. Odd are he will start playing well for Stoke, and we'll all be wondering why couldn't he do it for us. It was a shocking year for transfers, and unprecedented level of failure, and while I do recall one or two dissenters, most people felt we did good business at the time. So all this bolloxing the club in hindsight is shameful, as no-one know it could turn out that bad. And yes we are now paying for that, and no we can't fix it all in one go.
Exactly, but once BR tells them who's in and who's out they should know not to sell/loan before they have a definite result with the player they want to sign.
Yeah it's a bummer when a player says he wants to sign for your team and then ends up somewhere else huh.
I'll not hide the fact that I'm very disappointed in the fact that we didn't sign a striker. I never wanted Dempsey and made that very public a while ago. We can debate how much last seasons spend has effected our budget for this season. However, where do you sill ****ers get off having a go at Ian Ayre!! There's absolutely nothing magical about negotiating a players contract. It's no different from the process that would be attached to any major business investment. If it makes economic sense in the light of your available resources then you go ahead. If agreement cannot be reached then so be it. In terms of Liverpool's negotiations then Are would not be flying solo as it appears that some of his predecessors have - with disastrous results!
Hardly, fella, I'm a cool as ****. I'm very much glass half full, but ultra realistic. I was sure we would have lost Pepe, Agger, Suarez and Skrtel, this window, the fact that Rodgers wasn't met with an inbox full of transfer request amazes me. So that's a plus. Red nets, another plus, Allen, a big plus...Adam gone, a plus.... Sterling in the first team, a plus, Morgan getting a go, a plus, and so on. I don't expect anything from this season, so if this helps break the myth that clubs can double the value, because Liverpool are interested, then good, worth taking the hit. Looking forward to Getting Joke Hole out in January.... Happy days!
You dont cut off your nose to spite your face dave, Ayre/FSG shouldn't have let Carroll go without making sure they had a replacement(which they didn't do), We are now worse off by paying 40% of Carroll's wages to play for West Ham and are now a weaker club without him being replaced.
John W Henry made his money by the emotionless trading of the assets and labours of others. Tonight's evidence suggests he still is
Lol, was only pulling your leg Noble. It's not been that terrible a transfer window. And Dave that's why a few answers from the club will be nice. It obviously went wrong somewhere today; no one is arguing any different. So like Skerts or Pepe holding their hands up, saying "Damn, screwed up, Sorry" then whoever mucked up here should do the same. That way any false accusations or conspiracy theories can be laughed at (they'll not be stopped obviously)
Well said! All year everyone has blown smoke up Ayes arse for all the deals he has signed, generating millions for the club, now because he refused to get ripped off, he's a scum sucking idiot??? Blowing in the wind much, ladies???
) .......yes but livepool are a VERY IMPORTANT team (or so I'm told) ..........bunch of ****s really )
In fact Allen and Borini cost roughly £25mil between them, isnt that the same amount we stand to receive from the Warrior deal, that leaves the 4mil for the other two lads which has probably come out of wage savings and transfer fees received. I question FSG's financial commitment to the club. They need to either back the club in the transfer market or get off their arses and get on with sorting the Stadium out. Which has just become a dragged out mess now and is becoming more of a problem as time ticks by. The stadium saga is more infuriating than anything else so far
Oh that would be nice, I doubt it will happen though. I expect some grade A bullshit as to why it went wrong.
