Been completely & utterly denied by Henry as per Bluffs link. But it seems some of the US media/blogging sounds a lot like ours lol: http://m.nbcsports.com/content/castrodale-guy-who-ruined-red-sox-and-liverpool
The guy who ruined the Red Sox and Liverpool. I thought that link was quite an amusing read. How can FSG not be able to afford to run 2 clubs? Afterall Lfc fans have led us to believe that FSG are a group of 200 billionaires.
No smoke without fire. Thing i find dodgy is the 'they cant afford to fund' the Sox and us, if we're seperate entities within FSG and we can fund ourselves why amalgamate us with the Sox and exactly how are FSG funding us?, surely we fund ourselves.
[Afterall Lfc fans have led us to believe that FSG are a group of 200 billionaires. When has anyone said that? Provide proof before making such ludicrous comments.
They have no need to sell anyone. We are "self sufficient". Might not win us the league or anything else at the end of it all, but we aren't costing them any money! And The Red Sox are making them money. If they are just the greedy investor type dudes people keep trying to make them they aren't losing any money. What I will find interesting is if their whole "plan" or methods continue not work in the sport they know, maybe they'll not he so inflexible in their approach to the sport they don't. Both teams on the rebuild, will be interesting to see who starts moving up first...
It sounds to me like Fenway have been engaging in a little fishing - let's test a true market value and will anybody nibble. The media have then picked up on it and ridden into the sunset. Seems like their media is about as good as ours at not knowing what's going on!
havent they only spent money by selling so far? as far as i can see for every new signing there has been an outgoing transfer.....
Ish, most of it is money from sales but there is also from LFC money generated (Sponsorship, TV rights etc). Its supposed to be self-sustaining football, where only money generated by the club is used for transfers. Its not sugar-daddy football
They paid off a lot of players though. So the figures are skewed. For example Jovanovic, Poulsen, Degen and El Zhar are down as going away for free (or for a small fee) but we've had to pay them a couple of million to **** them off as they were on such huge contracts here. That was a huge cost for them aswell. And they've been having to pay the wages of Aquilani and Cole while they were out on loan, or so I've read.
I'm probably the only one on this board who regard them as H+G 2.0 after they left Kenny holding his dick in his hand over the Suarez affair. Have to say though, there doesn't seem to be many shining knights out there now who want to buy a club for anything else but asset-stripping. What about a worldwibe fan buyout on the barca model, if they're so keen to sod off?
Kenny got his dick out and started waving it about, the owners were in America and probably found out way too late what was going on. Like it or not football clubs are businesses owned by business men who expect a return on their investment, i would suspect even the sheik at eastlands will be hoping for a profit from his planned re-developement of the area and the club once the time comes to pull out.
I'm confused: how did you read the OP link about them selling the Red Sox to concentrate on us (it's rubbish anyway) and turn it around to have them wanting rid of us?
Fully agree with this! As a marketable venture only LFC could exceed market expectations with a global appeal as opposed to the Red Sox only being truly marketable in the states. As the commercial strategy is working at LFC the FSG stand to make more money than they could with the Red Sox. Maybe they are looking at United and are thinking, if they are a club valued at £1 billion, with the right plan and reduced debts we can put ourselves in that region of profit. Also, with any viable business, you have to go into it with an 'Exit strategy' and they normally span 5-10 years. This is how you sell your business plan to potential investors - Maybe, they are ready to activate that exit plan which would pave the way to focus more heavily on us guys. Now, don't automatically assume that because we 'may' be their only business enterprise, that they are about to splash millions on the team. They may, but that's highly unlikely! They'll spend what they think is reasonable to get them towards their exit plan with LFC and if that comes earlier than the 5-10 years, they'll sell us too. I'll join the majority of you on that there fence and wait to see what happens over the next few weeks but, with Dallas back, they may be able to sell to JR!
JR's too old. Maybe John Ross. They did the decent thing by bringing back quiver lips. Swellen is no longer a hopeless drunk.
