Carvalho looks a Klopp type player, Wilson didn't, although he's doing alright since he left. I'm thinking that Klopp doesn't want to throw too many young players in together too quickly. Bajcetic is a revelation. Put another youngster next to him and it may not work too well. Is Elliott getting less time lately or is it my imagination?
Elliott is disastrous in midfield as he cannot tackle. he is out and only played as a forward lately but even then in a game he started there as was dropped back to cm with subs on 60mins and we went to absolute pot. carvalho is not even making the bench (inly on cl bench due to bigger number allowed plus he is on lists so qualifies). klopp has been clear on why as well. the only good news with carvalho is klopp is saying he is a nice lad who is working hard irrespective
Carvalho is a much better player than Wilson as evidenced by their stats last year and more importantly seeing which one played in a successful team .
Carv and Ell might be useful as squad members. They're both decent enough as backup, young enough they could improve, and most importantly could qualify as home-grown.
I think Elliott has played some part in every game this season, the only player to do so.....Klopp and his team really rate him
yup and look where we are. his best games were as rw in 442 and as rw when salah was out. remember him starting that press from the right side and the whole team responding? he just is not a cm. he cannot tackle nor get close and people are talking through his zone. just that simple. get him up the park where he is best and let him flourish
he is , slightly , more suited to CM than Carvalho but for both further forward is much better with our squad something like 4-2-3-1 looks more suitable .
there is that. I suppose we have to wonder if klopp suddenly grew a Rafa style negativity and played 4231 with those forwards and parked 2 6s could we shut up shop at the back and still score a lot of goals. alisson trentn konate vvd robertson fabinho bajcetic salah gakpo diaz nunez exchange salah for Elliott, exchange gakpo for firmino and maybe put nunez wide and Jota up top. there's a huge amount of options when 6 cms just park the bus and the 4 are let lose. but we really have not don't it yet.
yep that was point as we already have the forward options so if we can only afford one top and one decent CM with backup from 2 of Bajcetic Henderson and Fabinho it still looks decent .with flexibility.
You already know I think you're overly harsh on Harvey but you are touching on something I pointed out very early on in the season. With Harvey at RCM, our right side is Salah, Trent & Elliott... that's defensively fragile at best.
I don't think I am cos irrespective of salah no longer pressing or trent doing his walkabouts the simple fact that Elliott can't tackle and doesn't get tight and get a foot in still holds true.
I agree he's not a CM but you're overly critical. He's a young lad being asked to do an unfamiliar job. Blame the manager or system, not the player
it's not blame.. ot just is what it is. he can't tackle. it is the managers fault but then he'd get no chance at all if he only played rw.
