It used to be the case the local businessmen would pass the club round like a cheap tart for a pound. It was more of a lower class social club for these guys than a business. walker in 1990s was the last "local hero" putting vast personal wealth in to buy success. Since then.... well...... Arsneal built on wenger policies Utd built on getting old trafford up to 76k cheaply and exploiting position. Chelsea - bates bankrupted it. then an oligarch put russian oil state money in. then along comes city. It is at the point where its not a club being passed on but an asset to be bought and sold for profit. so its not about on field any more. its about off field profits based on inflating value. theres a hard limit to the value. FSG know it and got it CHEAP. they see a 10X minimum killing here but for the next person. Is there ACTUALLY any profit to be had? IMO its now either a glazier model of being milked for revenue or a despot model of fantasy land. The current cheslea model is just going to implode. Its this simple: Cheslea had ambramovich to the tune one point something billion that was basically written off. he had assets as an oligarch in the 10s of billions. Today Bohley is worth 5billion. theres 4 in total in that consortium. they simply cannot afford to spend 400mil from nowhere and throw another billion at a stadium. they are business men. Whatever they are at has a limited timespan here, simply put they must have worked out some business model betwee nthis consortium and it doesn't include giving their money away in a sportswashing excerise. IF LFC fans only want trophies, then the despots are the only way to go. Chelsea will prove this soon enough. If LFC want to be also rans then another FSG will come along to milk the club as a business. there are really no other options. Bayern is a flawed example as a fan owned thing. they dominate Germany under the model there and its locked in due to size of supporter club. they can raid and destroy every german rival so nobody can compete. they will then use the CL money to play catch up in Europe safely. the English model doesn't allow for this overall as theres too many clubs with too much money to be totally bullied (exmaple declan rice at west ham, any brighton layer linked anywhere, any leicester over priced player you mention) Its never a walk in the park for anyone and theres too many club fighting for 4 slots i nthe elite european comp. We now in effect are reaching 8 clubs for 4 places. This says that at some point something is going to crack.
things change, I’m guessing that he also wants to compete at a basic level. We’ll soon find out by the look of it
I'd rather we remained ethical and carried on competing and winning as we have been. We've taken on the best of the best, won some, lost some. That's what life is about. Nobody wins everything all the time. Some clubs are amassing more of the best players than others so have a better chance of being successful but it's absolutely not impossible to beat them as we have shown. We haven't always won but neither have the dopers. At the end of the day the game is still played by human beings and all the money in the world won't produce a superhuman so with the right manager getting a great team together it's still man against man. I'd far rather watch the game and take the chances of Klopp - and later his successors - lifting an occasional trophy than know we were part of an uneven playing field, cheating others out of any chance they also might have of actually competing for their own success. I got as much joy out of Allison heading us into fourth place spot as I did winning both trophies last season. The former remains a vivid memory, the latter more (welcome) numbers on the wall.
but the point has to be both examples you have are things where something was "on the line" whether you are fighting for 4th or 1st you are fighting. 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th. that's just got nothing that matters to fans or players riding on it. the worst thing for any club is get to end of January and have nothing but midtable boredom to look forward to. hell some fans say they'd rather be in the relegation fight so it's interesting. this is why I never understand clubs dumping cups to see 45 points in league as success. their fans are bored.
Going to be hard, they make Chemicals that go in all sorts of stuff. Also interests in shale gas and fracking Gotta laugh at the ManU fans saying its not blood oil money when ineos have been guilty of environmental crimes and want to frack the countryside for gas. They also own OGS Nice, so it'll be interesting how they solve that issue of owning two European clubs.
I don't think anyone seems to care given red bull do it today? how is there a red bull salzburg and a red bull leipzig? any ideas what the model?
Dunno? Make sure one doesn't qualify for Europe each season? That shouldn't be a problem for Man U most seasons these days.
today's rumours come from James Pearce. no sale is imminent and its a minority stake again. clearly fsg have again bottled it and utd and spurs have stolen their customers.
You don't list enlist two banks, pay them big fees, and move Mike Gordon into a new role ... just to sell a minority stake.
And you don’t come out and say yes we’re looking to sell the whole club to make yourself seem desperate and drive the price down.
well all I'm saying is the latest rumour is out of james pearce (which is my way of saying he might have been told something but who knows how reliable that is) 49% of 4 billion is 10x thier initial investment
