I find it very frustrating when teams like Brighton who didn't have a pot to p*ss in a couple of few years are now buying players like Mackail Smith and have a new multi million pound stadium to play in
Why can't these things happen to Watford it's so unfair

TBF We spent a lot of money not so long ago on players and it didn't work out as we know.

Right about the ground but then if we'd built a new East stand ours wouldn't look so bad.

Be interesting to see if all this works out for Brighton!

Now i see that Portsmouth who apparantly nearly went of business last season
who managed to keep hold of a lot of there better more expierenced players despite going into administration
have bid 750k for a player

Who cares? We are Watford, we are what we are, the glory years under GT and Elton were very special and our subsequent rollercoaster has been a hoot. What the likes of Brighton, Portsmouth and Cardiff show is that football is a changing animal and for every Portsmouth Brighton Cardiff remember theres also an Oxford, and Newport too. I'm not jealous of the Brightons, etc. and believe in the Watford way. Whos to say their experiment wont fail and we'll pick up Mikail Smith on a free in 4 years or at a knockdown price in a couple, nobody knows. Mensah who we've not paid 3 or 4 million for could prove to be a better catch anyway along with the likes of Marv and Troy who seem very motivated and we know they're gifted so get behind the lads in yellow shirts and stop worrying about the ones who got away.

Weren't you complaining about having a 3-sided ground and an awful pitch yesterday?

We can't have it all!

Very well said Abberdeen!! Post repped!!

I agree though - I don't see what it is about us that makes us get a bankrupt for an owner while others get billionaires. SEJ is still one of the richest men in the world and yet does not invest in us - I am not having a go at him as he still holds concerts and he did his bit - I'm just saying that we do have multi- millionaire yet struggle for a few quid so lose out to Charlton on a player we apparently wanted.

Why can't we have it all that's a typical Watford response
It's not the Watford way of doing things why should there be a Watford way?

Why do I like fast cars and beautiful women yet some people prefer Kia and the back end of a bus? I like Watford and the watford way which is different, it means we grow players don't just buy someone elses products. We are craftsmen in the football world rather than low brain cell billionaires with a cheque book. Its like preferring to woo and romance a woman into affection rather than buy a prostitute. For all of you who say why cant we have a benevolent owner why dont you go and sell your houses, club together and bankroll the club for a couple of years and see where it goes? We are doing things the right way from where I sit and the likes of GT and SEJ are still influencing that way. Go and argue the toss with Elton and I'm sure you'll come away enlightened as to why it is as it is, when a man conquers so many demons he really has a rounded view on these things.

I like the Watford Way - makes us special and has for many many years now - we can never compete in the money league but we have something here that other clubs do not

I think that what hurts me most is I see our status in the game ebbing away. 10 years ago under GT we could genuinely claim to be in the "top 30" of English football, whereas now I see this being under threat each season as our owners do not seem to be interested in the "football side" of the football club.
