we played ok but didn't take the chances ... Bolton are very poor so are Blackburn we are safe unless these two teams find any form which looks unlikely
That's the key thing, he changed a winning team. A team that looked balanced and had played well. Stupid and costly mistake.
3 defensive midfielders and yet how much space and time for the shot. When you play two defensive midfielders its easy to see where you should be covering, if one goes passed you, you step back, if one gets pulled out wide you move into the centre to cover etc... When you play 3 its a lot harder for the players to get used to and it takes time, we don't have the time. Barton\Diakite partnership has shown it could be the way forward and the switch in the second half proved how much better it was. When you look at the team sheet you had the option of playing SWP or Buz as the 3rd creative, neither ideal but Buz wins it for me /shrug Any way as we have Cisse back next game it will change the formation again so probably not something we really need to get to much into. As for the game, we setup not to concede and did. The goal was disappointing and the result was disappointing, the performance not as bad, Hill was great again. For us it means we missed the chance of dragging Villa into the fight and we will also now need to get something, probably 3pts, from the Spurs Chelski games. Can we do tha ?, damn straight we can.
I really thought we had turned a corner on wednesday. Good work rate,tempo,accurate and quick passing,closing down,chasing back and pushing forward as a team to support Zamora......and then MH decides to change the fowmation and pull everyone back to invite pressure???...I just dont understand it. Why would you change a winning formula?.We need wins,so lets push forward and go for it....rather than sit back. If we cary on like saturday,lets forget about the prem. Madness!
