    But then though I'm on full teaching pay my wife is a stay at home mum and being in London I have to do extra work just to cover costs. That extra work is now gone. If my pay had gone up with inflation I wouldn't be needing the extra work.

    I hope people will stay at home and wash hands 100% of time before meals. Keeping away from people is utterly key to us getting through this.

    We're generally doing ok up here in North East England with up to now relatively low numbers of reported infections. So we've got a head start to keep safe.

    It appears that covid-19 cases are often mild, but for those who become seriously ill, if the hospitals are at capacity, they'll die.
    I don't want a pay rise - I just want to survive this issue. The shortage of protective kit needs emergency attention.
