Whilst I agree with your sentiments in general, I actually don't think they need to have that much in the way of finance to move the club forward, providing that whatever the purchase price isnt used as a debt against the club, which they have said previously wouldnt be( and to be honest we don't have the assets to justify that, so the payment to Bates is going to have to be from readily available funds) . The club itself makes money, we have just been hampered by Bates taking so much out, thus all we need is any new owner to just let the club perform as it should and enough funds should be generated for us to make a promotion push. Obviously if they want to also inject some capital for the acquisition of new players then even better. The only reason I've highlighted the last part of your statement, is that we have to remember they are dealing with Bates, who's not exactly known to have been very transparent or had much positive engagement with the fans, so I can believe that all the issues with non communication about the takeover has been down to Bates, and for them to buy the club they have had to go along with it, which in a way provides a hope in a small way, that for them to have stuck around so long, they must have confidence that they themselves can make a lot of money from the club eventually, and the only way they are likely to achieve that is for us to be successful. Obviously I could be totally wrong, so I guess we will have to wait and see if/when the t/o occurs
Aski - fair points. I agree about the finance question which is why I hope one of their first steps will be to lower ticket prices in order to get crowds up to 25,000-30,000 again (and hopefully beyond). I do however think that we need a few million to be spent on what is a pretty mediocre squad. Look at the (sensible) investment that Leicester have made and look at where they are on the table. On transparency they could do some simple things. One could be to have an elected fans' representative on the board. Another could be to hold regular Q&A sessions with fans. I'd also like to see them set out a vision, a plan for the next five years and how they aim to achieve it. Finally, wouldn't it be nice if for their first home game in charge they cut ticket prices to £10 to say thanks to Leeds fans for sticking through the last 7 years of Bates. Wouldn't it be nice to start the new reign with a full house at Elland Road and a smile on everyone's face? Here's hoping...
Along with a gift of some sort to the season ticket holders who will not benefit from a lower priced ticket.
Bates has no money and takes what he can from the club. GFH Capital have even less money and hope to get investors, now there is a recipe for success.
Warnock said he would walk if he thought we had no chance. Will he? He also said that if Snodgrass ws here and we hade little chance at Christmas he would get him a Prem contract. Anyone think he would have kept to that bargain? I believe we are currently playing in the same lacklustre manner that led to our two most recent relegations. With the players then, we should never have been relegated either time. Things were going on behind the scenes that prevented them playing properly. We are currently in the same situation, and it has been building for a season and a half. Baz....z....z.....zz....z....thunk
It's actually quite simple, however LUST and others have their own agenda and the truth is not coming out.
That's just it, we don't know, but I'm sure the reality is ego's have taken things to where we are, on all sides. There appears (from what I and many others know) to be very little money with GFH Capital, however they have enough to invest in the club, which is what Bates has always wanted, yet we still have this belief they will buy out Bates, without any factual evidence to back this up. Edit: Been on a few beers tonight, so need a bit 'o' light stuff, so here ends the prophecy. Edit: Why is English lager so ****e? Carling is without doubt the worst lager in the world and Carlsberg is not far off it as well. Edit: Flybe, pish off, yer as bad as Fudair from Dublin.
Bates and GFH have as good as admitted it's an actual takeover, as have all reliable informed people around the takeover. Carlsberg is Danish.
I'm sure Carling is probably owned by some American owner, the fact is they are regularly sold in English pubs and at ER.
That doesn't make it an English lager. It is ****, admittedly, as is its similarly-named jizzstain of a cousin, along with Fosters, Coors and any other beer that claims 'refreshing' as its main virtue and USP. Look to England if you want hearty real ale or cheap, nice wine, and to the continent if you want tasty lager and various overpriced spirits. Better than that acerbic **** whiskey the Scotch churn out.
