Have had to use your recent history in many a conversation re the new ground guys......you had a similar sized ground, crowd and success to us not too many years ago didnt you. The stadium was built (with MY concrete I hasten to add!) and you have left us and many others in the dust.....crowds have doubled if not trebbled, profile is right up there, investors on board...its all win win win isn't it? Until we get out of our (very) old ground ...not a stadium!...and start to actualy live the dream then we will always struggle. If I was a player with the choice of making my living at AG for a few seasons or CCS with all its limelight and glitz, I know where I would go! In a nutshell guys, our chairman actualy owns the land and has building permission granted some years back. This was then contested by the nimby's who then got it to court and it was ruled that the land was a village green so can't be built on. .....back to the council for round 2......back to the courts via the nimby's for round 3.....nimby's offered x ammount of village green space (which would have been the biggest in the west!) but no go.....so its now back to the courts to rule whether it is a legal planning permission in the first place and so it will probably all start again......the feeling is the council may of screwed up along the way so its going to be deemed illegal...........OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!...............and breathe. I beleive it took Brighton something like 12 years to get theirs?............AG will be rubble by then!
