How brilliant would that be? A Tyne & Wear pre-season cup! Guaranteed to fill the grounds for at least 1 of the fixtures, invite a couple of decent European sides, would ge a cash cow for both clubs!

Granted both teams would need to establish themselves as regular top half clubs to be able to pull off something similar to the Amsterdam tournament, but what a cracking way to start the football season!
 
Back to the original post.........boring or what?

There have been two major musical events during the close season with the pitch completely covered. I think a new pitch has been laid or at least re-seeded. If that's the case it will take time to recover.
