Love Hilltop Hoods. Only found out about them recently when I was living with some Aussies and this and Cosby Sweater have become two of my favourite songs.

this contains a guitar riff sample from Bowies Space Oddity - tho its a cover not the original sampled
Not sure why people slag off Rap , there is so much work that goes into Lyrics/Rap , OK huff about the lack of a traditional instrument .
But digging for a sample , making the hook stick and getting it all together isnt to be sniffed at .

heres Some Space Oddity for yaa

Of course hip hop wasn't just music. It was a whole working class youth cultural movement. Graffiti artists and breakers included.

Here's some b boys doing their stuff...

i was a B-Boy in the early 80s , breakin' in Queens Gdns , down whitefriargate , at Gordon St youth club , Edinburgh St youth club (old and new) breakin as a 11-15 yr old for my city versus crews from all over yorkshire .
Totally burned the local opposition with my "turtle" and had battles on lino on the crossroads of Boulevard/Cholmley Street oh the lols for the oldies :p
Repping Hessle Rd - (for some strange reason Division Road ) we used to roam the city with "ghetto blasta" roll of lino and yes it was the early 80s throwing stars (from the big martial arts store opposite what was recently Kwik save) for protection

for 3 or 4 years in the early 80s we were kings , shame i wasnt a bit older n getting the chicks like in all the movies hahaaa

The Video ? this is how we did it , none of that choreographed "street" bullshit ur watching today

Got to love some of the outrageous outfit's from the early days. You'd never see it in the modern bullshit.

Interesting to note that this is clearly influenced by Kraftwerk. Just as the sort of artists found on the alternative music thread would claim to be.

Let's not forget the Rocksteady Crew's foray into pop music.

    Loved this as a nipper.
