Was driving past Eastrington on the Howden road yesterday with my Dad who was brought up there and he pointed out a dilapidated building on the side of road that he said was' the drugs den of the north' and used to be a fairly big Northern Soul club/bar. Anyone from on here know which club i'm talking about, or used to go to it? I have a pretty eclectic taste in music but my knowledge of Northern Soul is rather lacking. Just thought it was a bit of a coincidence seeing this thread was up on Friday.
I went a few times, not for Northern Soul nights though, they had a bit of a rave thing going on there early 90's. I can't remember what it was called, but I think it got it's licence rescinded for failing to stop it's customers from necking E's all the time. It was a ****-hole.

I've recently done an interview with Eddie Piller on modcast.com, really nice fella. Going back to the Howden club, I've just remembered that something bad happened and I believe it was actually closed down when some poor girl died outside.
Ah right that's a shame, well from what my dad said it sounded pretty unscrupulous. The club must have been around for a while if it spanned Northern Soul to rave/trance in the 90's. Glad someone knew what I was on about anyway.
