I watched '71 the other night. "A young and disoriented British soldier is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the deadly streets of Belfast in 1971."

Good film, but a grim subject.

"Generation War" is shown on YouTube free films as I just recently watched it. Lived with the Germans for 6 years and had many a night with the old stagers who had started with the Hitler Youth and as one of them put it marched proudly into ****.
Try Generation Kill. An American series about the iraq war. Very good and not as flag waving as you'd expect .

I'm still on the search for a good horror film, any recommendations would be welcome. I watched Carrie for the first time recently, good film but not scary at all. I'd heard It Follows was top drawer so I gave it a try, it was beautifully shot and unusual thematically but again not scary.

Watched one called Oculus the other day which was good, it was different in that from the very start of the film they were trying to catch the ghost on camera so the structure of the film was original, reasonably creepy and I got to look at Karen Gillan for an hour and a half which made me happy.

But yeah, the search continues. Insidious is the best I've seen in recent times, everything else has been disappointing.
Not many good horrors these days though thought the conjouring was canny. If you can out up with subtitles the french make some good ones. Frontiers, Switchblade Romance, Martyrs

Watched Interstellar earlier, thought it was brilliant. I haven't been hit with the emotional one two so hard since Gladiator and that was 15 years ago. It makes Gravity look like a soulless tech demo.

Insiduous. ****ing hell. Ive just wasted part of my life watching this.

Utter ****e. Was it meant to be a horror movie?

Thing is mate, when do you watch a horror film and go '****ing hell that was good' afterwards?

I can't get my head round horror films, they're all just ****ing ridiculous, especially ones about ghosts and poltergeists.

I went to watch that Ring in the cinema, I think that's the last horror movie I paid to watch... not sure, total ****.

I watched all the saw films as well, just got stupid in the end.

I liked the Vacancy, because it has Kate Beckinsale in it.

Watched the remake of The Poltergeist the other day, ****e.
The ultimate horror film has to be The Exorcist. Still scares the **** out of me. The Evil Dead is also a classic.

Think im in the minority on the exorcist. I did then and still do think its turd.

Evil dead at its time was a classic.

wife went out on Friday night so I got the Bourne movies out, easy watching films with good action in them.

Does anybody else have this issue, where you watch a ****ty girlie movie to please your wife then she falls asleep, usually on you so you can't go get the remote, then you end up watching the entire girlie flick on your own?
