Wooly perhaps McManus fancies his horse to win AP has been dreadful since his collarbone injury losing on so many odds-on shots and short priced fancies but then pops in on 5-1 or bigger I think he came back too quickly myself and having broken my collarbone previously he should've taken at least 3 months off even if he had it pinned or plated but then that's just my opinion mate
Morning, troops. Has to be Barbers Shop’s little half-brother for me today. MAESTRO ROYAL at Huntingdon (1.20). One of the best bred horses in the NH sphere and he should go very well on his hurdling bow. Faces 2 very creditable opponents in It’s A Sting and Vayland but 9/2 re Mr Henderson’s charge is just too big in my opinion. Maestro Royal performed creditably in 2 bumpers which were intended as mere introductions to the game. Now after strengthening up over the summer and autumn and set loose over hurdles expect a quality performance this afternoon. Good luck, pilgrims.
I'd imagine sir barney and reebs can team up for a spot of clay pigeon shooting at the weekends together.
Can anyone explain why Arkle entered Sgt Reckless has just hosed up on the sand and had it's previous run over hurdles? Hardly an ideal prep for an Arkle horse? Should Mick Channon stick to flat horses??!!
With regards to Sgt Reckless the reason he hasnt really been out is due to the ground conditions. He wanted to run on the Saturday at Kempton at xmas time over fences but the ground was due to deteriorate so he ran over hurdles on the Friday instead whilst the ground had some good left in it.
wahoooo .....SBC and STICK .. an unusual set of bed-mates .. but a winning double .. cheers boys !!!!
Been given havelock ellis in the last at dundalk.low grade 17 runner handicapp is not a race I'd normally get involved in so small stakes ew @14s
That mare Close Harmony really is a wonder. Yet another winner she’s produced. If Maestro Royal proves half as good as his half-brother, Barbers Shop, then he’ll be a world beater. It’s going to be interesting to see if Mr Henderson steps him up in grade after this. The form certainly has a solid look to it as the runner-up had run well previously last time, in a well above average novice heat, at Ascot. No champers, Ste, but I may settle for a Cocktail at Dawn tomorrow. Meanwhile, these days I really wouldn’t count a prep for Cheltenham, on the all-weather, as a negative. In the past few seasons plenty have done it in ‘bumpers for jumpers’, because of the heavy ground on turf (as tward points out) or in order to protect their handicap mark over hurdles or fences. In fact the nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more one I alluded to yesterday is likely to have his prep run for the ‘Freddie Winter’ on the all-weather for this latter reason.
I don't mind the jumpers using the sand if the weather is awful but when the ground is good at Doncaster there's no excuse. Would Best Mate or Edredon Bleu messed around on the flat?? I think not!!
Well done woolly just held on Emily Gray matched on Betfair for £19 @1000/1 bet the layer was sh1tting themselves lol
