Good luck with Sacred Act. Buying a horse out of old boy Gosden’s yard though…that’s brave. Hopefully, rewarding though.
As I’ve said for a while now am greatly looking forward to the debut of HERCULEAN today (2.40 Ascot). This Frankel colt out of a Group 1 winner and a sister to Fair Eva, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, has a lofty reputation and let’s hope he can commence his career with a victory.
Will be a watching brief for me this afternoon though as he’s short enough in the market right now and I’ve absolutely no idea as to his fitness and if he is ‘ready’. I could do an elaborate ‘I’ve been told…’ but to put it simply I’ve no idea if he’s totally tuned up and plenty of horses who have gone on to be exceptional, even great, have been turned over on their debut for lack of fitness or because it is merely a 'sighter'. He is though viewed a very good long term prospect and you can get 50/1 for next year’s Guineas – should Herculean bolt up by 5 lengths+ today I would imagine you’d get a fraction of that by 3 o’clock!
Also, the opposition make this a well above average juvenile – Merlin Magic was just touched off in a hot maiden last month, Archie McKellar ran with huge promise 1st time up and Wadilsafa is another Frankel and a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas 4th Talayeb.
I’ve waffled enough here but in summary hope Herculean puts up a Herculean effort. Boom boom.
Good luck, pilgrims.
