I would be very disappointed if he wasn't a good jumper of a fence as he always gave his hurdles plenty of daylight. Been a favorite of mine since his first race, hope he can go right to the top over fences.
I am against him tomorrow, those fences down the back will really test these and I expect Skelton will set them a stiff task.
Hexham 2:45 Esporie Moriviere This one seems to have a nice each way chance. Was a good 3rd at this track last year in a handicap hurdle and now mark 5 lower. Runners from the Dobbin yard perform much better now after a disappointing last season. Could outrun its odds today.
1:00 Hexham - Banks O'Houxty. I'm not putting this up as a selection just one of interest. One run, one win in a bumper, now returns after almost four and a half years off the track for its second race. That would be some performance.
Just looking at the entries for the Fortria Chase at Navan on Sunday and Willie has Min, Duc des Genievres, Great Field and Douvan entered. Talk about an embarassment of riches
Quick question for the forum aficionados - I can't help feeling Dan Skelton's runners are often too short in the betting and am often put off them for that very reason. The yard have had 4 winners from 36 runners so far in November and all 4 were pretty skinny prices (4/1, 5/2, 2/1, EVS) - hardly a scintillating strike rate. One example is the 1.15 at Warwick today - a 13 runner novices hurdle and West Cork from the Skelton Yard is showing at 7/4 whilst Kaymar from Seven Barrows is available at 11/1. I can't for the life of me understand that price discrepancy when I factor in all available information. West Cork may well hose up but I couldn't touch him at those odds.
Mason Jar 2.35pm - Fontwell Live on SkySports Racing 2m3f49y - £10,500 - Handicap Hurdle please log in to view this image The Dr Richard Newland trained Mason Jar bids for his fourth win since 6th October when he runs this afternoon. It's not a race that we would have chosen for Mason Jar, but he is due to go up twelve pounds in the weights tomorrow and runs today without a penalty. With the handicapper unlikely to take any further action should he win, it feels like a 'free run' and a race in which we have little to lose by taking our chance. Mason Jar has been busy and this just might be one race too many for our five year old, but it would be incredible if he can make it four wins in a row this afternoon!
Only Duc des Genievres runs. Also going to run on Sunday Energumene, Melon, A Plus Tard, Andy Dufresne, Abacadabras and Aples' Jade. Also good card tomorrow, runs Cliaos Emery and Blackbow. No Dlauro.
Yes the season is really getting into full swing. Fusil Raffles running in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton too
Very exciting. Unfortunately though neither Hooper or Bags Groove do go tomorrow. Highlight of the weekend though has to be the return of Santini on Sunday at Sandown Park.
Yes one of those "Intermediate Chases" - I often wonder why there aren't more of these and why they don't attract bigger fields? They are usually 5 or fewer runner affairs which seems strange as I guess they are a good starting point for second season chasers.
Two very tricky contests today but I'll plump for La Hulpe at Warwick and Kid Commando at Fontwell - purely based on the respective trainer's knack of getting a bumper horse ready.
