Today is hunters chase day at Cheltenham and my two favourite horses in these races of the last few years are going to take to the track. Unfortunately, the serious injuries they have suffered have not allowed them to show all they have in them.
Caryto Des Brosses (16,50 - 7/2) runs in the first race in a really surprising move because the horse's best results have been over 3m and today runs over 2m and that doesn't bode well. Obviously, for sentimental reasons, I can't leave him alone, but it doesn't inspire much confidence to run over that distance. In any case, he is the best horse of the race by far and I imagine that if he is in good shape he won't do too badly.
As for the mare, Highway Jewel (19,10), she did not run at the in the Festival and that is very suspicious, so I don't think she is at her best level. If she comes in form she should have no problem to win, despite her tendency to jump right, but his odds are so poor (10/11) that it's not worth risking it. Perhaps a double with a minimum investment only for fun and remembering the old days would be the best.
