Those chalk Sussex Downs will be drying out as they do not retain the water like the clay soils elsewhere.

Retire, Ron, and leave picking your selections to your grandson. <laugh>
Definitely now. The grandson went for 2 in that. Battaash and Profitable. So would I have done if I had ignored the forecast ground. Spent ages last night studying the form for soft ground specialists when I shouldn't have been. Strong winds clearly drying out the ground. I am actually disgusted with myself. Not for picking losers (do that often enough) but for the way I went about my selections last night. What a complete ****ing novice I am

Different track, different going – made no difference to Battaash. Must have a word with that friend of mine that reckons the Dark Angel’s have to have fast ground...

The problem for punters tomorrow may be that if the track is drying out, it might become sticky – just in time for those two huge field sprint handicaps.

I think the gaffer sold his missus into slavery and put all the proceeds on Dyna Might looking at the way it shortened in the betting. He will be dining at the local chippy tonight if he still has enough change... :(

WILD APPROACH - Goodwood - 4:40 - 16/1

Worth a little punt each way on this one with paddys paying 4 places. Beat Absolute Blast recently in a Group 3 in Germany which is pretty good form, dropped back in trip now and will definitely see it out, likes a bit of cut, trainer does alright with the horses he brings over. Spencer on board a hold up horse that will be staying on at the finish, what can go wrong.

TOMYRIS - Goodwood - 4:40 - 8/1

Happy to throw a couple of darts at this one what with the four places and 15 runners. Totally get why many have plumped for this one in the comp, form behind Winter last time can't be knocked, form before that (especially on soft) enough to go very close here also.

Both placed but kicking myself for not lumping on Al Jazi, seemed so obvious after the race

Ron, I dunno, but could your grandson be a bit of an aftertimer. I think he's in with Wells Fargo on a past-posting scam? <laugh>

No Swanny. He picks them out before they start. It's me doing the after timing. I would have kept quiet if had picked losers. No picks from him after the sprint though as he zoomed out with the missus to get his hair cut as soon as they went passed the post. Have to go to a wedding tomorrow.

OK Ron, then let's see if he can get the Stewards' Cup winner. Let him get cracking early! If he does it then I am a believer, and your grandson should be wrapped in cotton wool, that is for sure. His record is exemplary so far. :emoticon-0100-smile

We will miss all the racing and all the football tomorrow because we have to go to a wedding. So no picks. He seems to do better deciding just before the off. Not exemplary though Swanny. He also picked one in the second race and that was Forest Ranger which finished 3rd of 6. The fact that I also picked that one may have had something to do with that <laugh>
