Seems like the Gold Cup will be going back to Ireland if you compare that race and the King George!!

    Agree with Chan. Purposely
Not to mention risk to the horse. Do people really think Willie is in Ruby's ear saying "come off at the last, bring the horse down too if you can, don't worry about getting trampled you're both ****ing dead weight anyway"

Have a word with yourself. Road To Riches was a distant fourth in last years GC. How is that race today comparable to the King George?

4th on ground he absolutely hated!! I didn’t really mean a direct comparison but still that looked a much stronger race than the king George and the fact Monalee boosts Presenting Percy’s form. However the Irish horses seem to be (at this stage) progressing a lot more than ours our main 2 horses don’t seem to be anywhere near where they even were this time last year!!

All Monalee saw of Presenting Percy was his arse disapearing up the hill. The three mile form is looking very odd this season but the performance of Clan Des Obeaux at Kempton was the most impressive of this holiday in my book. He was hard held all the way up the straight and still only a baby. BDM fell far too early to gauge and sadly brought down Waiting Patiently who still could be the best of the lot.

CDO is surely too inexperienced for the Gold Cup this year? he made a mistake early at Kempton that would have put him on the back foot in the Gold Cup.

It’s a messy old season, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a major shock in the big race this year

I think he even out did the stables expectations - I know you take stuff like that with a pinch of salt Howver they even said this is a year too early!!

Why are people saying this about Waiting Patiently best horse in race etc when he got brought down so early in the king george no one can possibly say...

I think Clan Des Obeaux won't power up the hill enough and will probably make too many mistakes at Cheltenham if he goes gold cup

Presenting Percy is my idea of the winner of the gold cup but they better get him out soon otherwise the preparation will be far from ideal which could scupper his chances.

The one that s ticking along nicely is Native River. Placed in both the Betfair Chase and King George. Another run will put him spot on for the gold cup and if it comes up soft he will take some beating for sure...

I havent seen anyone say he was the best horse in the race on that performance but if you thought he was the best horse in the race before then there is nothing that happened that might have changed that opinion after it, surely!
If you saw Hughes reaction after being brought down then it seems obvious that something "special" was expected.

    From The Guardian:

"Presenting Percy, the favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, had been billed as the main attraction in Friday’s Grade One Savills Chase at Leopardstown, but Pat Kelly’s stable star failed to make it past the final declaration stage on Thursday due to concerns that the good ground is a little quicker than he would like.

This is the second time in a month that Presenting Percy, the impressive winner of the RSA Chase last season, has failed to appear as planned, following a late swerve around the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown and punters sitting on ante-post tickets for Cheltenham will be starting to get a little anxious if his seasonal reappearance is delayed much longer.

The latest story circulating here in Ireland, if it is any reassurance, is that Kelly is simply focusing all his attention on the Festival and will now either give his chaser two runs before Cheltenham, the second of which would be the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park in mid-February, or just one, in the Irish Gold Cup on the first weekend in February. We can only wait and hope."

Also if anyone wants to look at ****e rides, take a look at Sean Flanagan on RTR. The horse almost ended up on the floor twice because the jockey decided to go the “brave” (ie thoughtless and pathetic) inside run in a race where the field was stacked. To finish as well as he did would suggest to me that RTR is the one to take out of today’s big race.

Of course he would be disappointed Stick and I m sure the same reaction would have been the case if any of the other jockeys would have been unceremoniously dumped out the race in the same fashion on their mounts...

There have been people on here saying he s the best horse in the race etc...potentially yes but we don't know that for certain. You don't know if he stays that trip yet..Politologue didn't by sounds of things despite Nicholls talking it up and him being bred to stay! They are reverting back in trip.

That could be one of the most expensive ferry cancellations ever - Kemboy would surely have run away with the Hennessy. Very impressive performance that BUT i don’t think the race had the strength in depth of the King George. It was nice to see Disko run such a nice race until falling and hopefully he is none the worse.

I could envisage both Clan des Obeaux and Waiting Patiently going for the Cotswold Chase for track and trip experience next. Should give them a nice spin.

I was at ltown and the best part of the day was seeing Faugheen getting back up after what looked like a terrible fall at the second last.Would have been great to see if he could have put it up to AJ but I think she would of obliged myself. Could be the last time we see the great Faugheen as he seemed to be limping when Ruby brought him by the stands to great applause from the crowd as we all feared the worst.
