    Good evening all

excited about the hurdling debut of RANJAAN in the 1.00 at Newbury. He will probably be a short price but I am willing to take evens or bigger so hopefully he will not open up at something stupid like 1/2. He was a fair performer on the flat for Mikel Delzangles/Aga Khan winning twice from 5 starts. Highclere have splashed out a whopping £200,000 for this performer and I expect him to line up in the Triumph hurdle come March. Corals are a stand out 16/1 and this one is my early fancy for the race so I have snapped up some of that tonight.

    2.10 Newbury SOLLIM 3/1 (BOG) & PRINCE BUSTER 20/1 E.W (BOG)

A good punting race this and I feel Sollim is fair value at around the 3/1 mark. He was a useful sort in France when trained by Guillaume Macaire and whilst he is yet to shine for Paul Nicholls he makes his chase debut tomorrow and has the tonuge tie on for the first time which could make a difference. A mark of 125 is not beyond him in my opinion and he is well off at the weights as he gets a handy 4yo allowance.

Prince Buster is the other one I am interested in at the prices, he is a stand out 20/1 shot at the moment and could still be nicely treated off a mark of 125. He was previously trained by Alan King and showed lots of promise in all 3 starts. On his debut he finished 2nd at odds of 33-1 behind Belvano - with Tocca Ferro (has won listed off 134) 3rd, Cois Farraig (128) 4th and Black Jack Blues (150 at his best) 5th. Now I am aware those horses have obviously improved with racing but that was a solid start to his racing career and whilst he followed that up with a slightly disappointing 5th at Huntingdon having been sent off 2/1 fav he proved his debut effort was no fluke when running a brilliant 3rd at Ascot with Lush Life the winner (now rated 142) and Menorah (162 rated hurdler) 2nd. Prince Buster was only beaten 9 3/4 lengths that day and pulled 10 lengths clear of the 4th Sophies Trophy (129 at her best). He makes his chasing debut after a 643 day absence but is very lightly raced for an 8yo and whilst he has obviously had his problems if he has retained his ability and his rookie trainer has him ready to go I expect a massive run

2.45 Newbury SIVOLE DE SIVOLA 7/1 (BOG)

I don't usually like betting in these Pertemps qualifiers but Sivola De Sivola is a solid performer and I am hopeful he will be trying tomorrow. He is a progressive sort and ran a fine race when 5th in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time out. He should relish this step up in distance and I will be disappointed if I don't get a good run for my money tomorrow.

Cracking card at Newbury on Friday RV <ok>

I know Henderson's Mono Man is well thought of in the last but Phillip Hobbs Colour Squadron (NAP) was deeply impressive in his bumper and comes from a well-connected family on the dam side, sired by Old Vic. I think he will go very close at a decent price.

Some very good racing Odddy. Yep I was impressed with Colour Squadron also. Good little race that, Hendo loves winning it as well so you may well get a better price for Colour Squadron <ok>.

I think so yeah. Cue Card has to concede 7lbs to him.

Yeah, big ask for Cue Card, I read Barry Geraghty's blog regularly and apparrently Bobs Worth has been schooling really well.

That one of Nicholls should win the first but I also like the look of Alan King's runner Ardlui - yard in good nick and fair flat form. Mind you the Galileo offspring haven't yet set the NH world alight

Colour Squadron made a most taking debut Oddy, I agree. As you say, you might find some value in that race against the big names.

I think if you were to value seeking, I'd be interested in Alan King's ARDLUI up against the Nicholls newcomer Ranjaan in the 1.00 Newbury. Will depend on the prices in the morning but he has ran some belters on the flat this summer in good handicaps and clearly possesses ability. If he was to put a slick round in tomorrow he'd be asking big questions.

My NAP for the day will go to CUE CARD at a standout 9/4 with Bet365. He has shown useful form already despite unseating last time. The thing for him in this race is that it is there to be dictated and he can get into a better rhythm. I can understand why most feel he won't go on to big things this season, but for todays purposes I think he is a cracking bet and has the speed to trouble Bob's Worth, who we have yet to see jump a fence and at 5/6 my argument is that he is too short considering the as of yet questionable Albert Bartlett form.

Joe Tizzard needs to stamp his authority on the race early and get into a rhythm. If he does that then he is capable of quickening clear at this flatter track.

Bit of a harsh assessment. Overhyped by the Tizzards? Yes.

Bobs Worth is obviously well regarded but they can be funny affairs these small field novice events, and Cue Card was particularly useful when dictating the pace and quickening on his debut.

His jumping does worry me but I would hope he has been schooled again and I think he'll be much better if Joe Tizzard gets him settled and into a rhythm.

" Listen Dano last chance saloon for for Oddys home Deutschland which runs in the 2 mile handicap. He was very disappointing last time at Leopardstown but he won a QR race here a couple of years ago off a rating of 89 and is running here off a 9lb lower mark. Hopefully, he will put his best foot forward today or else he is off to Oddy for some of them Hot dogs"

done a few today at e/w prices
    Newb 2.10 Be Definate8/1
    Newb 2.45 Kasbadali12/1
    Donc 2.35 Knockavilla9/1
    Muss 2.55 Capricornus12/1
i likes both colour squadron and sivola de sivolabut on placing my bets today the prices had dissappeared compared to early show last night with them currently 3/1 and 5/1, colour squadron race ive now left alone as big yards represented and id say nearly all the field are totally unexposed if anything id chance an e/w on judge davis@ 16/1 and id never consider taking a 5/1 fav in a pertemps qualifier , too many plots being run out so ive taken a chance with oliver sherwood trained kasbadali as i was at towcester on his last run there and he won with a bit in hand and stayed on up the hill over 2m5 so id think 3m around newbury should suit as he looked like going left handed would benefit him.

Morning chaps... Just when i was getting that 'Cant hit a barn door from two paces...' 'Cow's backside with a banjo...' 'Score in a brothel...' feeling, i look on todays thread and most of my picks have been selected by the more shrewder memebers of this forum...

So without wanting to jinx the lot of you i may well not have a bet...<laugh><laugh>

    So i apologise to...
    rv - Sollim...
    rv - Sivola de Sivola...
    Oddy - Colour Squadron...
Anyone who's picked - Bobs Worth...

Although one of my favourite horses is running today, so i will jinx myself here...

    3.15 - Rileyev, 11/4 nap...
I followed this horse for most of last year and did very well out of him... Didnt see his last run but when i read about him it sounded like he was back up to tip top form, finishing 2nd @ 16/1 behind Imsiningtheblues. Gained a 4 timer at the beginning of the year and all around this distance... If running anything up to his last run he will have a very good shout in this... Aigle D'or is obv the threat, spesh with Henderson flying, but im taking on the fact its his first run for 121 days...

Good luck to all who play, and im sorry if i jinx you today...<cheers>
