Nothing earth shattering here but a friend of one of the guys in our ownership has a friend very close to Mark Prescotts yard and says Master Diver wins at Dundalk 8pm race
Now, now, now. Calm down, you types. I always knew that The Lieutenant v Mr Ponsonby clash would lead to boisterousness but there’s no need for silliness. The fascinating thing re Scarlet Dragon is that he will getting a rating, in the NH sphere, in a few day’s time and I guess the severity of this will, largely, determine how they go with him over hurdles from here on in. If they do go Grade 1 I would have thought Aintree, again, was more likely than Cheltenham. However, if they feel they get an attractive perch then I suspect handicaps will be the way forward. What this will be though I find highly intriguing. Does the old boy handicap go through his debut run behind the now 159 rated Global Citizen, does he set it against his subsequent 2 efforts or thirdly adopt the ‘Liberal Democrat approach’ and go for an amalgamation of these 2 policies??? Can’t wait to see what he opts to do. While I’m on can I also say something else that has caught my eye is The Lieutenant’s entry of Pym in a lowly novice hurdle at Kempton on Monday. He’s rejected both continuing in Graded events or going handicap for this lowly prize. I’m only guessing (I’m not going to deploy that awful forum cliché ‘I’ve been told…’ because I haven’t) but I think Pym has got ‘Cheltenham handicap blot’ written all over him and the old boy is potentially going here because whatever happens (win, lose or draw) it’s highly unlikely it would result in Pym being raised from that mark of 138. Anyway, enough waffling…have a good weekend, troops.
